Yeah, that's the conclusion I'd draw.

In the face of overwhelming evidence of corruption, every single one of the 50 Democratic Senators has called for the resignation of Democratic Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. By way of response, Republicans claimed that this just proves how criminally dishonest Democrats are.

No, of course I don't have a link for that. I'm just generalizing based on history. It's what I do.

..good post CC.. nothing to speculate about at all.. this isn't a Rep/Dem issue, or even a right/left issue.. it is becoming very evident that politics has becoming a breading ground for serving SELF interest from both sides of the political spectrum.

But.. when we limit ourselves to criticizing the "other" guys.. we get what we ask for.

So, let me get this straight: we've got Blagojevich on tape cursing Obama's name for not offering him any bribes, and the RNC uses that as evidence of Obama's corruption.

Their logic does not resemble our Earth logic.

So suppose you're the governor of some American state and you read in the paper that the Prime Minister of Canada tries to buy a Member of Parliament and they got it on tape, which, the Prime Minister says, has been altered. If the Prime Minister of Canada can buy a Member of Parliament, why can't a governor sell a Senate seat? Did Steverino go to jail? Did anyone even talk about sending Steverino to jail? Explain the difference in language Gov Rod can understand.

...sorry, "breeding" ground..

..and yes, Stephen Haper should be in jail if it can be proven that he offered a bribe for a vote or for party support..

..and yes, the Libs doing the same freaking thing with Stronach should also be subject to review.. offering up a cabinet seat, with the attendant "financial" benefit that goes with that.. however, I'm sure that won't go anyway, as we showed during adscam, if you can't prove they did something, they can just claim abject stupidity and absolve themselves of any complicity that way..

Here's something I would get behind.. in the event of a "floor cross", there will be a presumption of bribery.. the "floor crosser" will be prohibited from voting on any matter until completion of an all party board of review to assure no benefit - and I mean NO benefit, was obtained - regardless of whether or not it was part of a "bargain", and will, by legislation, be prohibited from sitting in cabinet until after their position is affirmed by their constituents in the next general election..

Applies to everyone.. Cons, Libs, NDP's..

We're not talking about criminalizing politics here, we talking about the sale of public office for cash.

WV, I shit you not, "legit."

Gee, it's too bad all the Dems can't give him a completely unorthodox lengthy standing ovation, like the Reps did for convicted Republican Senator Ted Stevens on his shameful resignation from office.

All 50 Dems call for Blagojevich's resignation, while the entire Republican senate gives their convicted criminal a standing ovation. And right there, we get the clearest indication of the chasm that is the American political divide.
