The Wall Street Journal smacks down Intelligent Design.
When even the Wall Street Journallays a beating on ID, you know it's in serious trouble. CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE: I found the WSJ piece via Ed Brayton's blog "Dispatches from the Culture Wars," which is definitely worth perusing.

In the field of necessary social advance in understanding real stuff, all the way from statistics to climate science to sociology to human rights you can pretty much take the WSJ as a sort of litmus test. If they support it, there is something badly wrong with it. If the WSJ has switched from mindless endorsement of the reactionary notions of ID there is definitely someting rotten going on. I do not mean to suggest one should doubt evolution but it would probably be a good idea to look into the reasons why this wind sock of reaction has altered direction.
