Hmmmmmm ...

When one is in the midst of re-reading "The Stand" (uncut version, of course), one should probably avoid articles like this -- especially if you have a healthy imagination.

Does anyone else hear footsteps?

I don't find the tornadoes as troubling as placing a major bioscience facility in the midst of a bunch of evolution-denialists.

having read both versions of 'the stand', i have a great respect for the subtractive contribution of an editor. king's unabridged release rambles and lose the narrative tautness that the original published edition had. of course, that's just my opinion. which is right.

Just in case you're wondering, I'm totally sticking my tongue out at you.

FWIW, it appears that World War I’s “Spanish Flu” originated at Camp Funston, a basic training facility less than ten miles from Manhattan, Ks. http://www.kshs.org/cool/influenzasign.html

OTOH, if an infectious disease facility is located on a remote island off the northern tip of Long Island, NY, the Prevailing Westerlies would blow any escaped germs out to sea.
