"Don't poke the retard!"

So chides the delightful LuLu but, really, it's just too much fun. There's this:

OTTAWA–With a deficit of up to $30 billion in its sights, the Conservative government is sharpening its message, and its tone, in advance of what Prime Minister Stephen Harper's office is now calling "one of the most important budgets in Canadian history." ...

"We are prepared to run a deliberate, substantial short-term budget deficit," said the senior insider, echoing Harper's statements.

Conservatives have been told to communicate the government's intention to run a deficit in the range of $20 billion to $30 billion.

And, of course, there's this:

... there is no deficit, and there won't be ...

I might never get tired of this.

What I would like to know is how the CPC can go from 12 billion in surpluses to 30 billion in deficit in three years, given it took decades for that to be reached by prior governments. I have to wonder how much of this is because of the overspending by the CPC prior to any consideration of the fiscal/economic crisis and how much is actually intended to deal with the current situation. Somehow I can't shake the feeling that it is more the former than the latter given the history of this government AND the history of Flaherty as the Ontario Finance Minister.

Yep, Scotian, and I suspect that had as much to do with prorogation as anything else. Imagine if the opposition had a look at the books back in November? Hmmmmm.

i'm a little confused: the whole of the canadian govt says there's a deficit, but twats says there won't be a deficit. they can't both be right, can they? more idiom?

Yeah,

He shouldn't have made such a sweeping pronouncement if he was going to be such a nit-picking asswipe.

But he did.

They needed time to cook the books - that's why Parliament was prorogued.

The fact that Twats has vanished recently means he's just working on a new and awe-inspiring mangling of the English language which will support the following mind-melting conversation:

Twats: "I told you there would never be a deficit."

CC: "Um, there's a $40 billion deficit right now."

Twats: "See? I was right! Man, you people are such morons!"

You think I'm joking, don't you?
