Behold the sleazy, undemocratic, back-room dealing:

Israeli President Shimon Peres picked Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of the hard-line Likud party, to form the country's new government Friday.
Netanyahu now has six weeks to put together a coalition government.
I'm guessing that the previously pants-wetting brigade of Stephen Taylor's Blogging Tories are suddenly, yo, way cool and down with this whole "coalition" thing.
It's all a matter of context, you know.

But, but, but, but that's different - just because it is...
So when's Bibi going to bomb Iran? Let's start a pool. I pick April 9, 2009.
Coalition Governments Worldwide (wikipedia)
Countries which often operate with coalition cabinets include: the Nordic countries, the Benelux countries, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Turkey, Israel, New Zealand, Pakistan and India. Switzerland has been ruled by a coalition of the four strongest parties in parliament from 1959 to 2008, called the "Magic Formula."
LOL - "Magic Formula."
Politics for $1000, Alex!
Alex: What do all Canadian opposition parties lack?
Contestant: What is a backbone.
Alex: We'll have to go to the judges on this...I'm sorry, the correct answer is "a magic formula" ... wait, wait, ah yes, your answer is also correct!
Not only that, but this coalition is made up without the party the won the most seats and votes, Kadima.
And Harper claimed the ndp-liberal coalition would be illegitimate because neither of those two parties had won the most seats, and "includes the party in Parliament whose avowed goal is to break up the country". Ha, and what is Likud then? Did it win the most seats? And what is Lieberman's policy? To break up Israel and the west bank into Arab and Jewish parts, have Israel take all the Jewish parts, and leave the Arabs with the rest.
Do you think Harper will publicly school the Israelis on all his rules for making minority governments, and not recognize the new Israeli government until they get it right?
Or is it just impossible to take anything Harper says seriously?
Heh. I thought the same thing. Of course the BTs will simply ignore the fact that these two things cannot possibly be reconciled. As CWTF noted "it's different" (somehow). What a bunch of stinking hypocrites.
Gawd. My estimation of Shimon Peres just tanked.

I think he'll get the US to do that for him (just like Iraq) so maybe it won't be till June 9, 2009. Need to give them a chance to fabricate a dog and pony show for the UN Security Council.
