Yesterday's pre-election statements are inoperative.
(CC NEWS) -- Having campaigned relentlessly on a platform of global warming being a total fiction and the invention of lefties, socialists, treehuggers and "those creepy gays," Prime Minister Stephen Harper recently announced $100 million in aid for "developing countries to fight climate change."
When asked whether his sudden and unexpected generosity with the public purse might extend to reversing his recent budget cuts to arts and culture, Harper responded, "Oh, please. They're artists, for fuck's sake!"

Send Harper the link to the "Cat came back" video. Philistine he may be but surely that'll loosen up the purse strings a little, no?
I smell some good corporate welfare coming!
What do you think, perhaps Talisman Energy, darling of warlords and sub-Saharan dictators, might just be able to benefit from this?
I'm betting...
My guess is he's read "Disaster Capitalism" and realized how lucrative poverty can be for one's friends.
Not one mention of climate in his platform although he did say he'd ramp up aid. I guess it's more random tax, tax slash, shift money around, spend more by slashing random policy changes.
Let's see who gets the money. I'm sure we'll hear all about this next election to represent street cred on the environment!
Wonder how much Acres International and SNC Lavalin will be pocketing most of those dollars. Perhaps a few other huge corporations who make their money off of World Bank jobs.
