Sad

The economic fallout of these times hasn't really settled in everywhere. These communities in California are where the truth is too shockingly apparent. Where have these folks all gone?

Oh wait... nevermind.

Well at least now there's some decent low cost housing for the East LA gang kids.

One of the proto and underlying reasons these people fled to the burbs leaves me a bit unsympathetic.

But I do feel for these people. It's just subdued.

Wow. That was a great piece.

I can relate to it somewhat on a personal level having abandoned a house in the past a number of years ago and now kind of doing a "trash out" of my own in preparation to moving next week. In fact, I was at the landfill this afternoon disposing of a trailer load of "stuff"... very therapeutic in a sense, hurling old possessions into the pit of a waiting dumpster. Quite fun, actually.

But more seriously, this was a very sad and disturbing story. I can't help but think of this as being just the leading and most obvious edge of something even more foreboding and widespread that's eventually going to upset the apple cart here in Canada also.

The waste of it all, American Culture and dreams, abandon and dispose.

America is now truly the throw away culture of the world.

That woman in the opening totally creeps me out. Her smile and body language are utterly inappropriate to the story.
