An RCMP officer in Kelowna, B.C., will be disciplined for using a Taser stun gun on a 68-year-old stroke victim over a parking violation.
Supt. Bill McKinnon said the incident grew out of a simple traffic stop that escalated when John Peters drove away.
John Peters, 68, says he raised his arm to try to protect himself before an RCMP officer shot him with a Taser gun.
The senior admitted he first drove away when a police officer tried to give him a ticket for double parking.
Peters told CBC News he then stopped a short distance away. The officer stunned him with the Taser once while he was still in his car, and again when he got out, Peters said.
Responded the Blogging Tories' Neo Conservative, "Oh, will you give it a rest? I mean, how many 68-year-old stroke victims have been Tasered in Canada in the last 10 years? I'll tell you: one. So get over it already!"
Neo then went on to make an even more appalling and inappropriate analogy, but his readers' brains had already exploded from the stupid overload.

Wayne proves that he would rather crawl than walk, that he prefers compliance to rights. In the space of a few lines Wayne begs us all to bend our knee, as he would so willingly do:

We live in a free democratic country, with democratic laws.
They both made mistakes.
All people make mistakes, if people would just do what the officer says, these kinds of situations would happen less.
to a certain extent, wayne is right; peters was in the wrong. where wayne fails miserably is in unilaterally condoning actions which should be reserved for appropriate situations. misdemeanor traffic violations don't qualify.
there are two personality types associated with authoritarianism: those who seek to impose authority, and those who would be imposed. like watyne....

OK, we don't know if the officer felt that the driver was a danger to the public or not.
What I don't like about these stories, is that they are short and we don't know the whole story.
I am on the community committee that takes complaints to the RCMP, some are justified, lots and lots are not. All I want is fairness.
The media seem to side against the RCMP quite a bit, retraction on page 50. If something should be changed, change it. But, people have to try and comply somewhat don't they?

So if he didn't have a taser, Wayne, he should have shot the guy over leaving the scene of a parking violation? Really? The cop should be arrested for assault. There was no need for him to use any force at all. All he needed to do was use his fucking note book and write down the fucking licence plate number and radio it in to have the guy stopped.
They let you serve on a board investigating complaints against the RCMP and you think the officer was in the right in this case. That is truly frightening.
