It is suspicious, considering the fact that the last time I saw John Crosbie live, he appeared to be in an advanced state of dotage. Not that that is an obstacle to performing the duties of a lieutenant governo, something a tossed salad could do with ease...
This does appear to be a curious time to be appointing Crosbie to that position given the upcoming inquiry Harper called and Dr. Johnson is supposed to be setting the terms of given Crosbie's ministerial responsibilities in the Mulroney government. This was an excellent catch by Ms. O’Malley and pick up here.
Indeed, having Harper do things like this at this current time only helps to make him look like he is trying to help Mulroney in all of this, and given how many Canadians do not believe Mulroney in all of this to begin with that has the potential to really come back to haunt Harper in the days and weeks ahead. One can hope anyway. One has to admire Harper's willingness to assume that he can bury it in the holiday period instead of making it an openly acknowledged appointment, that makes it look so much sleazier than it might otherwise, although given the protection it gives Crosbie from being called to testify to Parliament or a public inquiry it would have a certain amount of taint to it regardless. Thanks for the additional ammunition Harper and for the additional link point between you and your office and trying to protect Mulroney any way you can.

"he appeared to be in an advanced state of dotage"
That used to be called the DTs, I believe.
I don't think so. He's too old and frail to be drinking to the extent that he get the DT's.
...there's nothing wrong with dotage. I plan to enjoy mine, when the time comes.
I hope he doesn't try to replace make tequila the official provincial drink instead of screech.
