[UPDATE: Oh, dear. Someone seems to have their Snuggies in a bunch.]
Oh, my, but this is entertaining. Back here, I laid a beating on Canadian wingnut Barbara Kay for her apparent dishonesty in a recent column of hers.
However, in what is a break with tradition for me, I decided to leave a comment there as well, with a simple link back to my article to see the reaction. Since that site requires registration, I actually went through the registration process, being entirely up-front with my desired username and web page, at which point I was shown the following:

I'm guessing that's what you call a "pre-emptive strike."
BETTER AND BETTER. As an intellectual challenge, I decided to see what it would take to be able to leave a comment on Kay's article. Man, they really don't want to hear from me.
First, I tried to leave a comment sort of anonymously, but giving the name of my web page. No chance -- I was once again told that I was blacklisted.
As a last resort, I tried to leave my comment entirely anonymously, except for the fact that the comment contained an HTML link to my article. The result?
Action Denied: Blacklisted Item Found

That's hysterical. Apparently, not only have I been blacklisted from registering as a commenter at "Proud to be Canadian", but it appears that that site has been set up to reject any comments that even refer to my blog. And all this from a site that describes its comments section as "a relatively open forum."
Man, that's one serious echo chamber you have going on there, people. Would anyone else like to see if they have any better luck?
SUCCESS! SORT OF. As one last attempt, I submitted a comment to that article under the name "Anonymous", with no web page URL, the e-mail address "cthulhu@rlyeh.ca" and using a tiny URL to link back to my web page. The comment was accepted only to the extent that, since it was submitted anonymously, it will subsequently be reviewed by a moderator.
Jesus Christ, but those folks really don't want to touch reality with their hands or anything, do they?

Wow. And I've never even been to their creepy site before, much less mentioned them at Creekside.
I typed in their URL too, rather than linking from here, to throw them off the scent.
(That first deleted comment was me crowing about having my entire blog banned, CC, as opposed to being banned for a single post like you - but then I reread your post. Duh.)
OK, so who else has been banned from "Proud To Be Canadian", a site that proudly runs Ann Coulter's column every week?
I got it to for Somena Media. We should definately get screen captures - This is hilarious.
Shorter Barbara Kay:
"Reality?? It burns!! IT BURNS!!!"
Leftist blogs? There are no leftist blogs. If there were, surely you would find a link around here somewhere, wouldn't you?
Is this evidence of paranoia and delusion among conservatives?
I'd be shocked if it were.

Yep. And all I wanted to say was that I didn't think any human being of any value would have an advert for Anne Coulter's book on their page LOL
CC, your comment is now 'published', along with a couple of other ones challenging Kay.
You might want to check back -- there's also one challenging your use of 'blacklisted'.
Pre-emptive bannination:
They Hate Us For Our Freedoms
See Top O'The Blog This Morning.. For a pretty screen capture of the pre-emptive BlackLISTING that I got yesterday. :)
How can they object to the use of the word blacklisted? IT'S THE VERY FRIGGING WORD THEY USE THEMSELVES
Wow. Joel is awfully hostile to a series of fairly benign comments. Defensive much? People don't like being told they are wrong I guess.
Well, I registered. I seem to be a safe site. :-)
This entire blog entry is premised on deceit.
"Since that site requires registration"
Wrong: It doesn't. Cynic knows that -- he tried posting but couldn't get his advertising to work. Anonymously.
I actually went through the registration process, being entirely up-front with my desired username and web page, at which point I was shown the following:

Wrong: Registration doesn't require a URL. That's obvious -- few members have web sites. The URL function was busted in a manner or form as I have explained ad nauseam in other posts here and at my web site. Cynic knows all that. Yet this is what he tells you.
I'm guessing that's what you call a "pre-emptive strike."
Wrong: That would require me knowing who in tarnation you are, in advance.
Man, they really don't want to hear from me.
Well, we don't now that we know you and what you're like.
First, I tried to leave a comment sort of anonymously, but giving the name of my web page. No chance -- I was once again told that I was blacklisted.
Wrong: A bit of a stretch really. As I explained, typing http://canadiancynic.blogspot.com didn't work because of a technical glitch, but typing canadiancynic.blogspot.com did work, as did his tinyURL. He wasn't blacklisted. Nobody is. (Yet -- I'm certainly not against self-preservation).
Most of these mini dramas played-out by Cynic here are premised on this theme of not being able to post comments which manifestly rely on Cynic wanting to believe it really really badly.
Jesus Christ, but those folks really don't want to touch reality with their hands or anything, do they?
Wrong: Most everything you've said here is premised on deceit. None of what I've said was premised on deceit.
And by the way, "alison" I'm not sure what you meant by "throwing them off the scent", but that sounds "creepy".
Not as creepy as Glyn (Zaphod) Evans though I guess, who informed us:
"Yep. And all I wanted to say was that I didn't think any human being of any value would have an advert for Anne Coulter's book on their page LOL "
That kind of tolerance and open-mindedness really stands out at my blog.
Wow. This is freaking crazy.
Just for fun, I thought I'd "TinyUrl" my site URL. And I managed to post! Perhaps the "blogspot" blacklist item is for real--except I can't imagine why this was done, given how easy it is to go around it.
Me creepy? Cool, thanks for the complement. I still fail to see how anyone could defend Ann Coulter. But that's okay :D
