The Washington Post, rewriting history.

Oh, yes.

The Washington Post editorial is not rewriting history, exactly. At least, not from their perspetive.

You see, they knew all of this stuff about the Bush administration's intentions for Iraq at the time, so nothing in the Downing Street memo is news to them. Of course, they have conveniently forgotten that they buried this information -- or at least under-emphasized it. They have forgotten that the common wisdom at the time was to avoid criticizing the president too harshly at a time of war. The herd mentality of the press decided that the proper portrayal of these unpleasant facts was little or no portrayal at all. And once the herd decides on a course of action, it is virtually impossible for one news organization to stand up and declare things to be different.

So of course this is not news to them. They knew all along. They just forgot to tell us.

Exactly. The wingnuts on the right like to make up lies like some alledged "Joint Authorization to Use Force in Iraq" which was supposedly passed by Congress and signed into law in 2002. They even drop links to this "document" on the internet. But those of us in the reality-based community know that this is a fake document on a fake website. KKKarl Rove is behind this.

They even go further by dropping links to a "document" called the Iraq Liberation Act signed into law in 1998 by The Great Leader of Morals; Bill Clinton.

Again this is a fake document and the website was made up by the CIA.

If it really WAS US policy for regime change in Iraq since 1998, don't you think that us progressive liberals at the Democratic Underground would have known about this? The highly credible Smirking Chimp website would have reported this if it were true.

So would have rightwing sources of info like the NY Times (Jayson Blair would have reported it if it were true), Dan Rather, Newsweek, and CNN's Eason Jordan.

Incidentally, our tactic of scaring recruits, running recruiters off campuses, spitting on returning Iraqi soldiers, and constantly referring to the troops as blood-drinking baby-killers appears to be working. The military has not made their recruiting numbers for 4 months straight!

Hopefully the US pulls out of Iraq immediately, so the country can be overrun by our side - the Iraqi resistance; the Minute Men. Michael Moore said they would win and we must do all we can to make sure they do.

It will be just like Vietnam where we demonized the blood-drinking baby-killing troops so badly that they fled the country leaving it to be overrun by our comrades - North Vietnam.

I don't give a damn if the Iraqi people get slaughtered like the South Vietnamese did after we left. They are only brown people AND they can't vote for the Democrats.

Us progressive liberals ALWAYS put our ideology first! That is because we are the only ones out there who know what is good for the ignorant unwashed masses.
