You'd think someone who's so passionate about an issue could articulate an actual reason for holding such a strong belief. That woman couldn't even explain what's gotten her so upset. Although I suppose she really does believe health care reform (even a failed one like Obamacare) really will lead to a "genocide of the elderly." Since I never, ever meet people like this (who are not clinically insane, of course), I have a hard time accepting that, however.
I live in Kansas, having moved here 4 years ago from Nova Scotia and I can tell you the crazy runs deep. When people ask me about the Canadian Healthcare system and I tell them that we don't kill Granny or die in waiting rooms, they don't want to believe it. It never ceases to amaze me how gullible people are. Most people around here do not want to have anything to with people having proper healthcare. It's "I got mine, to hell with you"!
I just can't care about Americans and their stupid choices anymore.
I admit, I have to care. Regardless, you want to read a book that won’t probably change anything for you, but might educate a bit. Get “Deer Hunting with Jesus’ by Joe Bageant. A thoroughly depressing book, yet I think, an absolutely necessary read.
