It occurs to me that the reason it's so frustrating trying to converse with you is that you're all painfully ignorant. So before we try to intellectually engage you any further, howzabout you toddle off and read the Geneva Conventions? Seriously, it's hard enough to debate with you when we're trying to educate you at the same time.
In particular, I think you should read this part (emphasis depressingly added for the hard of thinking):
PART II
GENERAL PROTECTION OF PRISONERS OF WAR
Article 12
Prisoners of war are in the hands of the enemy Power, but not of the individuals or military units who have captured them. Irrespective of the individual responsibilities that may exist, the Detaining Power is responsible for the treatment given them.
Prisoners of war may only be transferred by the Detaining Power to a Power which is a party to the Convention and after the Detaining Power has satisfied itself of the willingness and ability of such transferee Power to apply the Convention. When prisoners of war are transferred under such circumstances, responsibility for the application of the Convention rests on the Power accepting them while they are in its custody.
Nevertheless if that Power fails to carry out the provisions of the Convention in any important respect, the Power by whom the prisoners of war were transferred shall, upon being notified by the Protecting Power, take effective measures to correct the situation or shall request the return of the prisoners of war. Such requests must be complied with.
So, wankers, fuck off and read the Geneva Conventions. Better yet, have them read to you by someone who isn't as awesomely stupid as you are. That might be more productive. And when you finally understand them -- I mean truly understand them -- explain them to the drooling goobers at The Torch. They could use the help.

Ah! but if you say the magic words "enemy combatant" then the Geneva Conventions go "poof"! and disappear, and then you can torture the living shit out of those sadistic, fanatical psychopaths, smash their faces in, crush their testicles, pry off their fucking fingernails, ... because, ahem! (wipe, wipe), ... pardon me a second, ... er, um, ... right, ... because they're nasty people.
And besides, we're not torturing those sonsofbitches, the free and democratic model of western liberalism, the government of Afghanistan is.
And if we round up one or two innocent bystanders and they get tortured too, well, no biggie, ... they'll understand the big picture, and how it's the Taliban's fault, and like that.

Funny, the 'goobers' don't seem to grasp the notion that observance of the GC's protects not only prisoners, but the detaining power from, such trivialities as war crimes charges and government toppling prisoner scandals.
