The joy of wordsmithing.

What's slightly weird about this picture?

For years, President Bush and his advisers expressed frustration that the White House received little credit for the nation's strong economic performance because of public discontent about the Iraq war. Today, the president is getting little credit for improved security in Iraq, as the public increasingly focuses on a struggling U.S. economy.

That is the problem Bush faces as he prepares to deliver his seventh and probably final State of the Union address tonight.

Give it time -- it'll come to you.

The Washington Post. Your source for the coming coup d'etat.

jj- Apparently some past presidents have given either a written or oral SOTU before leaving office, but nobody's done it for a while.
That said, I'm keeping my tinfoil hat handy.

Here ya go: http://www.missilebases.com/

I've been wanting one for years. I figure if I hit the lottery I can make it a reality. Self contained, with solar, geothermal and wind power. Full air and water cycling. Hydroponics and aqua culture. Naturally it'd have to have the highest bandwidth net connection possible and a cache of Ak-47's and MP-5x's.

My wife says I'll be living there alone.

That's ok... when the rest of the world including my wife is off craving brains because of the Bush zombie plague I'll be ok in my own little subterranean biosphere ( *grin* )

Chris - I wouldn't put anything past Cheney (she said, darkly).

Actually something else that stood out was the reference to a "struggling economy" in the same paragraph as "strong economic performance". I found that a little odd. But not as odd as "probably" his last SOTU address!

"Probably"?!!

Cockburn Island, in Lake Huron...electricity, lots of cabins, game for hunting and isolated. My cousin in Thessalon has a boat, I am part owner of a hunting camp there, we just need food, fuel and plenty of ammo. Plenty of ammo.

Just keep that in mind.

That meme has been a concern since Bush's 911 powered unitary executive power. My betting pool is, Mr. Obama gets the Democrat nom, then...(as many Dem voters are already anxious they will see a repeat of what happens to politically ambitious black men in the US) there's the work of a terrist to eliminate him...and Bush delays elections for the forseeable future. Nevermind the US has survived previous political killings. It worked so well for his buddy the big M in Pakistan!

On the other hand, Bush might just be ready to run for the ranch (in South America) and leave the steaming pile he's created in the hands of the Dems, who will be blamed for creating the whole mess in the first place.
