How dumb is TOO dumb?

Seriously, is it even physically possible to be too stupid to be President of the United States?

Which leads one to wonder ... how spectacularly clueless and scientifically illiterate does someone have to be before even a Blogging Tory will finally give up on them?

P.S. Poor Mike -- not only dumb, but several days late worth of dumb. That's gotta be embarrassing.

P.P.S. By the way, the Huckster is either lying or stupid on many levels. But I'm guessing Mr. McGuire's cool with that.

AFTERSNARK: The Huckster really is 10 pounds of Christian compassion in a 5-pound bag:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Mike Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could "pose a dangerous public health risk." ...

In 1992, Huckabee wrote, "If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague."

"It is difficult to understand the public policy towards AIDS. It is the first time in the history of civilization in which the carriers of a genuine plague have not been isolated from the general population, and in which this deadly disease for which there is no cure is being treated as a civil rights issue instead of the true health crisis it represents."

And as for funding, well, the Huckster has that avenue covered, too:

Besides a quarantine, Huckabee suggested that Hollywood celebrities fund AIDS research from their own pockets, rather than federal health agencies. ...

"In light of the extraordinary funds already being given for AIDS research, it does not seem that additional federal spending can be justified," Huckabee wrote. "An alternative would be to request that multimillionaire celebrities, such as Elizabeth Taylor (,) Madonna and others who are pushing for more AIDS funding be encouraged to give out of their own personal treasuries increased amounts for AIDS research."

Fuckin' A, dude! And all those filthy rich Republicans who keep yapping on about staying in Iraq and invading Iran? How about those folks buy their own tanks and up-armored Humvees and Kevlar vests and aircraft carriers?

Uh oh ... I'm guessing that's about where Huckster logic and Mike McGuire logic part ways.

BWAHAHAHAHA!! Now I'm just being cruel.

God, it was painful to watch Fuckabee orate on that topic.

Travel through the dumbest areas of Canada, seek out the dumbest and meanest of the dumb (the Mike McGuire's), multiply those types by tens of millions, and you'll have Fuckabee's "base." Observe a slightly smarter/cunning demographic, multiply by a 150 million and you have all Republican voters.

It's hopeless.

McGuire's National Intelligence Estimate Estimation By Him deserves a post all its own. Apparently it collapsed under the weight of its own stupidity and just trailed off into nothingness. It ends:

How can we be certain that this report is any more accurate than the

Well, when confronted with that level of stupidity, words fail me too.

"STUDENT: [At Liberty University] Recent polls show you surging… What do you attribute this surge to?

HUCKABEE: There’s only one explanation for it, and it’s not a human one. It’s the same power that helped a little boy with two fish and five loaves feed a crowd of five thousand people. (Applause) That’s the only way that our campaign can be doing what it’s doing. And I’m not being facetious nor am I trying to be trite. There literally are thousands of people across this country who are praying that a little will become much, and it has. And it defies all explanation, it has confounded the pundits. And I’m enjoying every minute of them trying to figure it out, and until they look at it, from a, just experience beyond human, they’ll never figure it out. And it’s probably just as well. That’s honestly why it’s happening.

Now that you have been warned that Almighty God Hisself supports Huck, think you might want to back off?

I wonder if that was the same little boy who put his finger in the dike in the Netherlands? It certainly couldn't have been Jesus, who was in his early 30s when he (allegedly) performed that same miracle.

To be honest, I don't think that someone is stupid just because they believe in the literal word of the bible. Misguided or delusional perhaps. But not stupid. I don't really see how you can reconcile the reality of the world against a literal interpretation of the Bible and still have it make sense. But then believing that bats are birds, that rabbits chew their cud, that the earth is flat and supported by 4 pillars and has a dome over it through which god pours rain amongst the other absurdities in the bible are a bit much for me to swallow.

Though he might judge me for not believing in a god I'm not going to judge him for believing in one. I look at faith as something between a person and his or her deity of choice ( or lack thereof ). As far as I'm concerned he can believe in any damned thing he wants. The universe doesn't give a shit what he believes and neither do I. (and it's not like I'm voting for him anyway)

I think Huckabee gave about as good an answer as he could have and that it was basically a loaded question. He was asked if he believed in the literal creation store and he said that he doesn't know, but he believes. He's not claiming knowledge. Belief is something different.

Personally I think that the Christian derivatives have had quite enough time to fuck up the country and that it's time for a half decent Atheist candidate to have a turn and see how he does at screwing up the country. Who knows, without all that baggage he might actually make the nation better.
