If you closed your eyes, you'd swear he was a Republican.

And over here, we find the CBC's Rex Murphy displaying the kind of patronizing moral superiority you rarely find outside of the Blogging Tories. Or the Catholic Church.

Well, maybe not so much the Catholic Church these days.

So, what do we call Rex Murphy these days? Acerbic? Sardonic? Irascible?

...oh, right. Crabby old fart.

He's ranting about Madonna? Is he stuck in 1992 or something?

Not that I think Bono is wonderful by any sense of the word, but I find Rex to pretty pretty right-wing these days.
His approach makes the whole thing sound hopeless. Not that it's not!

Wait. Isn't Bono's cred based on the fact that he gives 10% of his income to various charities? Isn't that precisely what gives him the right to beat about the ears those who talk about it but don't do it?

Rex is a republican. He thinks that claiming Harper is a mini-Bush is a conspiracy theory.

What do you expect from a guy who thinks the novel died with Dickens?
