And is doing it at someone else's expense. It's the Ontario Gov't. that is using taxpayer's money for public transit. Miller's taking the credit, and using it for his legacy.

Tory aide tried to suppress $5-million Olympic ad bill
A senior Conservative official repeatedly intervened last month to try and suppress the revelation that Ottawa spent $5-million on a TV advertising blitz surrounding the Vancouver Olympics, new records show.
In a tense exchange of e-mails over a two-day period, ministerial aide Ryan Sparrow blocked attempts by bureaucrats to reveal the price tag of the ads that aimed to promote Conservative budgetary measures.

Because it is increasingly apparent that materials relevant to IPCC Reports, in particular, information about the experience and practice of the private sector in mitigation and adaptation activities, are found in sources that have not been published or peer-reviewed (e.g., industry journals, internal organisational publications, non-peer reviewed reports or working papers of research institutions, proceedings of workshops etc) the following additional procedures are provided. These have been designed to make all references used in IPCC Reports easily accessible and to ensure that the IPCC process remains open and transparent.

That would be this company. Apparently, it doesn't take much for Helena to assure herself.
AFTERSNARK: One has to wonder about the awesome rigour of Guergis' vetting process. I'm imagining something like this:
Guergis: "Now it's just a formality, Mr. Wright, but I have to ask if you currently have any business relationship of any kind with any immediate members of my family."
Wright: "Yes."
Guergis: (Pause.) "So we're good then."
I'm pretty sure it went down something like that, no?

Guergis said Wright, who has a cottage in her Simcoe-Grey riding, told her he was a constituent of hers and, as such, she felt it was her obligation to support his initiative, the statement said.
Wright was a "constituent" simply because he owns a cottage in Guergis' riding? How exactly does that work? Either Wright is one of Guergis' constituents, or he isn't. And I'm not sure that depends on whether someone simply owns a vacation spot in the right place.

While you're currently chuckling yourself senseless over the questionable credentials and credibility of apparent snitch Derek Snowdy, might I remind you that your hero Stephen the Corpulent apparently took him seriously enough to strip Helena Guergis of her Cabinet position and boot her sorry ass out of the party.
So you might want to take a minute or two and decide just how you want to present your outrage and who exactly you're mocking here. I'm just sayin'.

Helena Guergis touted firm linked to husband Rahim Jaffer
In letter to local council, minister promoted green deal but failed to mention tie to Jaffer
Helena Guergis touted a green technology company to Simcoe County officials while her husband Rahim Jaffer and businessman Nazim Gillani were involved in a plan to take the firm public in a $1 billion deal.
Guergis wrote a letter last September to the top municipal politician of Simcoe County, Tony Guergis, suggesting he and council take a good look at a company called Wright Tech Systems. Tony is Helena's cousin and at the time was the senior municipal official in Simcoe.
"I feel it is my responsibility to encourage you to consider this presentation about alternative waste management technology," Guergis wrote on her member of Parliament letterhead.
Cabinet ministers and MPs are forbidden from using their position to influence a person or organization to benefit their interest or that of relatives or friends, according to the federal Conflict of Interest Act.
Neither Jaffer nor Guergis would comment on this story.

The latest attempt to discredit climate science takes the form of another assault on the IPCC Assessment Reports. A group of people have gone over the IPCC references and have found that there are a number of non-peer reviewed references in the document.
Some of these provide a good example of why context matters, for example they identify one of the non-peer reviewed documents as an article from Newsweek written by Peter Gwynne. How does the IPCC use this document? They use it as an example of early work published in the media which later turns out to be wrong...

Considering that, for the last several days, the party line from Stupidville Central has been, "When Stephen Harper learned of allegations, he did the right thing and immediately contacted the Ethics Commissioner," and considering that, as we now learn, no such thing actually ever happened, one wonders when we can expect the embarrassed apologies from all those mouthy, sanctimonious yobs.

MD: Uh, well, I've had one referral from the PM, but it wasn't an official request.

MD: The difference is I have to have reasonable grounds and I have to have a section of the Act or the Code - and it could be either - indicated, with respect to what it is I'm to investigate. And I don't have either of those things.

Wow — 21 out of 44 chapters of the IPCC report receive a FAIL for peer-reviewed material. If the IPCC was a student, I think he’d be put with the “special” kids.

LET ME MAKE A PREDICTION: If you read that article, you get the impression that Guergis really, really wants to address these allegations, wants to set the record straight, wants to clear the air, blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda.
Now that the allegations are actually out there, I predict that there will be a flurry of "I'm sorry, but on advice of counsel, I won't comment on an ongoing criminal investigation."
Anyone want to bet against that? You want a piece of that action? Come on ... Daddy needs a brand new bottle of Macallan.
Good Lord ... cocaine and hookers? Shocked, I am, at such a possibility! Who could have imagined such debauchery? Well, besides him.
