No, we were looking for GOOD ideas.

All right ... what genius slipped this into the suggestion box?

In January, Emirates airline plans to launch mobile phone usage in its planes, making it the first airline to allow passengers to make cell phone calls on its flights.

And Australian carrier Qantas plans to start evaluating technology that lets fliers use their cell phones and PDAs during flight early next year.

Sure, why not? What can possibly go wrong?

I'm not sure what your problem is - I think it's an absolutely brilliant idea. In fact, I'd go further than that, it's an absolutely pointless one.

I like listening to people loudly saying where they are. It keeps me from forgetting where I am - a useful service for which I remain fitfully grateful. And an essential service during air travel, I should imagine.

I also like to know when other people will be getting home because it reminds me of the time I used to have a home. Which is nice.

So, to recap: I'd quite like to find myself armed to the teeth one day, temporarily immune from prosecution and utterly immune to remorse, with a mobile phone user talking loudly next to me as I try to sleep on the train.

I'm just saying.

Kind regards etc...
