I don't really think you should be so cheerful about a guy admitting a drug problem and cheating on his family. Its a tragedy all around, not something to be happy about... Jesus said that those without sin should throw the first stone, so if that's you... go for it.

And it's a bit difficult to appreciate why one should embrace this whole forgiveness and prayer meme when it comes to an appalling pervert like Haggard after the wankersphere just finished running Michael J. Fox through the meat grinder. I mean, here's a guy who has Parkinson's disease, for fuck's sake, but was attacked mercilessly as a partisan shill for the Democratic Party.

I swear you're obsessed with the Blogging Tories, it's all you ever talk about, and when directly challenged to give an opinion in which you can't easily use the term "batshit fucking crazy racist wankosphere", you recoil, avoid and ignore.

I have never publicly condemned an entire demographic as being inherently evil, based on Scripture.
I have never hypocritically condemned that same demographic, while getting a little same-sex action on the side for over three years, then lied about it when I got caught.
I have never purchased meth.
So drop this "Hey, we're all flawed human beings" crap. There really is a range of total assholitude, and Haggard is way out there on the extreme. Don't try to tar us all with the same brush.

That the fundamentals of what passes for "conservatism" in this country and in our southern neighbour, are based on glaring stupidity, dishonesty, and cowardice. Plus the sort of hateful mindset that is worthy of scorn.
In the interest of helping Olaf, I'll explain with an example:
Hypocritical liar, Rush Limbaugh's recent attack on Michael J. Fox, as only acting to give the appearance of the symptoms of his Parkinson's disease.
Limbaugh offers a grotesque pantomime.
Sheer hatefulness.
Limbaugh offers that maybe Fox deliberately skipped his medication to appear worse than he is.
Sheer hateful ignorance.
If Fox hadn't taken his medication he would be painfully immobilized. His meds loosen the muscles to reverse the immobilizing effects of Parkinsons.
Limbaugh says Fox is being exploited.
Sheer hateful stupidity.
Fox is working to elect candidates who will fund research that might find a cure for him. And Fox retains his mental faculties.
So if CC decides to call Limbaugh the miserable shitassed excuse for a human being that he is, I'll thank you very much if you keep your boring, pointless, bizarre objections to yourself, and please don't try to find some similarity between the nauseating Limbaugh and visceral reactions to him.

Most conservatives I know are in favour of stem cell research, most conservatives I know were angry at the way Rush treated Fox. Most conservatives I know think Haggard is a distructive asshole.
So there is agreement if anybody cared to see it.
