Just in case there was any doubt:
As far as policy, the President believes that there is a right for people to bear arms, but that all laws must be followed. And certainly bringing a gun into a school dormitory and shooting -- I don't want to say numbers because I know that they're still trying to figure out many people were wounded and possibly killed, but obviously that would be against the law and something that someone should be held accountable for.
The Bush administration -- sternly disapproving of gun violence, one campus massacre at a time.

And your solution to gun violence on campus is.. what, exactly?
We had a violence problem when I was in high school. That was some time ago. The problem was switchblade knives. Someone could pull out the knife, flip the switch and stab you before you had a chance to defend yourself in any way.
You'd lose one, maybe two students that way, before the guy with the switchblade was disarmed.
The federal government stopped that by making it unlawful to make switchblades here or to import them from other countries. No big switchblade lobby to fight the program. Or if there was a big switchblade lobby, the politicians, at the time, didn't care.
Glad to see that Bush's finest legal minds have come to the conclusion that "all laws must be followed".
I guess there's an asterisk there about wiretapping laws, of course, and the laws about revealing undercover CIA agents' identities, but who's counting?
