Shorter Spanky: "Forcing a Congressman to prey on teenage boys, then luring a man of God into a three-year orgy of gay sex and drug use. My God, is there anything those Democrats won't do?"
In response to Spanky's points of wondering why the Foley and Haggard scandals happened a few weeks and days pre-election (respectively), I offer this explanation: Shit takes a while to float to the top.
"Their plan was simple: Convince ethics-minded voters that Republicans are, well, devoid of ethics." Duh. That's because it's a valid plan! Is trashing the Constitution "ethical"? Is supporting torture "ethical?" Is stealing an election (at LEAST one) "ethical?" Is making fun of someone's serious medical condition "ethical?!"
Meanwhile, on the other foot, Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death two days before the midterm. Unlike Pagegate and Haggard the Horrible, this one may have something to do with a political party. I'll let you figure out which one. Hmmm...
(CC: Sorry for stealing your thunder. I wanted to lay a little smackdown of my own once.)
Republicans find trouble all year round. A few of these stories happened to float to the top of the toilet bowl (taking canucklehead's metaphor) just in time for the election.
I don't suppose that Spanky realizes that it was a Republican staffer who leaked the Foley story. Idiot (Spanky, not the staffer).
Sometimes these sickos are just dying, or letting other people die (extreme cases), to be "found out." They just can't come out and say it themselves; it loses its cachet. They NEED to be found out, just like they NEED to scurry around and pretend otherwise. They NEED to pull the wool over the people they fear's eyes. They go to church. They marry. They parent. That's the easy part. They GET OFF on the falseness of it all. They WANT to be BAD, and be known to be BAD. It's just part of the game, the jolt, the part where the icky bits get involved. They really want to be free. Can't you people understand that? Jesus! What is wrong with you all? Can't you see they are crying out loud for Jesus? Spare them. When people like this do things like that to others, they're just fallen down Christians. Lord wouldn't have it any other way. They are pigs for media attention. Check it out.
To quote Jon Stewart: "How come these things are being revealed NOW, AFTER the Republicans have done them?"
Or Stewart impersonating another Repug Congressman caught peddling influence: "I've been crooked for twenty years, and this comes out NOW? Nyah, it doesn't smell right!"
I'm not saying anything about "Aaron Unruh", but I can confirm that I went to school with a whole passel of Unruhs (and Neudorfs and Giesbrechts and son on), so there are definitely people around with Unruh as a last name.
If I remember correctly, "unruh" was one of the noises Terry Schiavo as part of the effort by the GOP to convince us that she wasn't in a persistent vegetative state.

Are you honestly this stupid?
Who? Spanky or CC?
