Dear Adam: You keep using that phrase "unfettered capitalism" ...

Apparently, a wide-open, free economy -- unchained by any of those annoying and counter-productive government regulations and where the market is free to "decide" almost anything -- is just the ticket when it comes to, say, making a corporate decision to boycott the Dixie Chicks from the airwaves, but it's an absolute travesty when it involves bookstores who might be taking a pass on stuff that makes Ann Coulter look positively thoughtful and nuanced.

I'd give that argument a little more thought if I were you, Adam. Consistency might be hard work, but it does pay big dividends in the end. Or so I've heard.

They consider it a logical formula: If it affects yourself, its a conspiracy. If it affects others, especially those you disagree with, its just market forces.

I've had one out of two comments make it through. Maybe he misunderstood the one comment (that made it) and thought I was agreeing with him?

This "controversy" is patent bullshit. The publisher and Indigo both underestimated the demand for Steyn's book, and when Indigo asked for more, Regnery couldn't supply them. As soon as they were reprinted, they were available at Indigo.

You might wonder why Indigo supplies 405 other books from Regnery's catalogue if they're so against right-wing bullshit.

The only remarkable fact in this whole thing is that more than 200 people in Canada want Steyn's book. The guy's terrible.
