They should cut a ten million dollar cheque for Abdelrazik now and spare Canadians the additional time and expense of a commission of enquiry.

And you know that, if Abdelrazik ever gets back, and sues, and wins, his settlement will simply be used as more evidence that we shouldn't let those foreign darkies into the country because they end up costing us money.

You know it's coming.

I don't think that was the winguttery of choice with respect to the Arar settlement. I think it might have been the notion that Arar would use the money to finance even more terrah, but that doesn't seem quite right. Too rational, for some reason..

I can't remember. As soon as the winguttery is debunked, it recedes quickly from memory.

TiGuy,

Those are the comments I see at CBC and the Mop and Pail about it. And then you have guys like Raph and Prattels spinning the whole "where there is smoke there's fire" nonsense.

CC is right, that is absolutely what they are going to say.

Gawd forbid they say something like "maybe our government ought not to send people away for torture" ....

We should sign them up for some Scientology auditing.

I think there are really frightening parallels between the government's upping of the ante against accusations of inhumanity in the Abousfian Abdelrazik situation - AND - the RCMP's aggressive defence in the current inquiry into the killing of Robert Dziekanski.

It even goes beyond "blame the victim" to "we'll do whatever we can to prove the victim deserved it".
