Damned if you do, and TOTALLY screwed if you don't.

First, there was the furious backpedaling:

WASHINGTON - President George W. Bush backed away yesterday from U.S. military claims that senior Iranian political leaders authorized the smuggling of deadly weapons into Iraq for use in attacks against Americans, fuelling new controversy over the quality of U.S. intelligence about Tehran's activities.

Just days after U.S. commanders alleged Iran's leadership ordered the secret transfer of mortars, roadside bombs and rocket-propelled grenades to Shiite militias in Iraq, Mr. Bush said the United States did not know if President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or other top leaders were responsible.

No problem, though, since either way works just fine for Commander Codpiece:

"What's worse -- that the [Iranian] government knew or that the government didn't know?" Mr. Bush asked.

Well ... given that those are the only possible choices, I'm guessing that, in Bushworld, those Iranians are pretty well fucked either way, aren't they?

In other news, the fact that no WMDs were ever found in Iraq only proves how cleverly they were hidden.

What's worse? That Bush knew the Iraq war was started on false intelligence, or that he didn't know?

Bush, false intelligence? Hmmm...almost makes artificial intelligence sound credible!

Actually, Bush was implying that it is better for the government not to know. Like how the US government "didn't know" it was arming and training Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion. Or how it "didn't know" during Iran-Contra. Or how it "didn't know" when Iran's Prime Minister Mossadegh was overthrown.

...honestly, how can the Americans keep swallowing this shit?

In unrelated news, a group of atheist researchers have finally determined that the G. W. Bush presidency IS evidence against the existence of God.

it's like the united states is the crazy angry kid and the arab states are the witless taunters of the crazy angry kid. i mean, how stupid do you have to be to make nuclear threats when you don't even have nukes?

damn it Ti-Guy beat me to the list - but of course it was originally asked of Nixon. And every Republican president since him has tried to outdo Tricky Dick.

And Dick Cheney has been involved with all those administrations in one way or another, either as a part of the administration or as a congressional supporter and defender of their worst excesses.

The really ironic thing is that while we don't know for sure wether or not the government of Iran is supporting Iraqi militias we do know that the government of the USA is in contact with the MEK a terrorist group based in Iraq that conducts bombings and assasinations targeting the Iranian government. The former is speculation the latter isn't even denied by any of the parties involved.
