An anonymous tipster brings to my attention this recent curious development:
I have no idea what this is about, but it seems clear that Rebel News is having to eat some expensive crow for defaming someone.
I suspect a fundraiser was involved.
THIS IS JUST WEIRD: Some quick Googling reveals that the pissing contest above revolves around Rebel's unequivocal accusation last year that someone was arrested:
A detailed write-up of this whole spat is here, where it seems clear that, no, nobody was arrested, inspiring Rebel News' humiliating climbdown, but it inspires the obvious question: How the fuck can you get something that wrong?
While defamation might involve getting into some grey areas, it seems inconceivable to claim publicly that someone was arrested when they were not, you know, arrested. Either you were arrested, or you weren't -- it's not like there's some sort of arguable in-between here.
I'd suggest that the above represents stunningly shoddy journalism, but calling it "journalism" seems a bit of a stretch.

Okay - if that isn't a sign that Ezra's going to leave, I don't know what is. I can't remember a single defamation suit - no matter how much of a losing case he had - that he climbed down from.
MgS: In fact, it is not the first case Ezra has tossed in the towel on.
