Blogging Tory JoJo is all about having newly-arrived swarthy people having a clue:
This morning’s excellent editorial by Martin Regg Cohn in today’s Toronto Star (Rethinking the rules of citizenship) ties in nicely with the direction the discussion was taking at the previous post. (H/T NNW)
Cohn seems to applaud Kenny’s efforts to rewrite the rules of citizenship in order to better ensure that newcomers have “a basic knowledge of our political institutions, our democratic traditions, our values, what some people call civic literacy”.
I couldn't agree more. In particular, I think it would be just ducky if those newly-arrived furriners understood that a coalition government in Canada is perfectly legal, and not a low, dirty, underhanded, unconstitutional coup designed by sleazy usurpers in a smoke-filled backroom to undemocratically overturn the results of the last election.
And when those furriners figured that out, perhaps they could explain it to JoJo and her Blogging Tory colleagues, who seem to be embarrassingly ignorant of how basic Canadian politics work. That would be, like, totally awesome.
I'm betting those furriners could teach the Blogging Tories better English as well.
AFTERSNARK: It behooves one to ask: If citizenship requirements were toughened considerably to keep out the allegedly ignorant and illiterate rabble, does that mean that Jojo and her Blogging Tory colleagues would finally shut the fucking fuck up about the difference between "real" Canadians and, you know, people who were just "Canadians?" You know, not real Canadians but second-class Canadians, "Canadians of convenience," that sort of thing?
Would their citizenship finally mean as much as, say, Kate McMillan's? Or "Neo Conservative"'s? Or Kathy Shaidle's? Or "Raphael Alexander"'s? Or a number of other hideous Canadian racists and bigots who I'd gladly trade for a war refugee in a heartbeat?
Would we finally be able to stop comparing passport values?

I really like the idea of establishing stringent citizenship requirements and then applying them to these lunatics. Most of them can't even speak English (let alone French) and should be deported to Alabama.
Their disregard for such values as "presumption of innocence" and "due process" are enough to disqualify them. To say nothing of their slavering desire to see people tortured.

But wouldn't we miss Texans? They've brought so much here, like chicken fried steak, and... and... (give me a minute).
Would we finally be able to stop comparing passport values?Of course not. They'd still have darker skin, and might even have weird, terroristy-sounding names.
The stalwart defenders of freedom know better than to trust those guys.

Bingo. It's been a real eye-opener for me to discover just how many so-called Canadians, so-called "conservatives" even, don't understand nor respect those two simple, age-old, traditions.
JoJo is a lying propagandist and a an enemy of the State. Deport her.
I don't know how the numbers play out, but it's too bad we couldn't deport Albertans to Afghanistan and import Afghanis to Alberta.
There. I've said my worst.
Well, my 1204317849017th worst.
Today.
Sooey, they'd be grateful at least...
The Afghanis...
Just think, five months from today, we'll be less than one hour from sending the CPC packing!

I thought that three years ago. I'm not going to be complacent.
If we want this awful government gone, we're going to have to fight.
And, you know, Cameron, Albertans might be happier, too.
Oh dear. Okay. Here's a moral puzzler - if Afghanistan was full of Albertans, would you, like, kind of WANT to bomb it?
