Those irrepressible, female-genital-mutilation-mocking, gay-bashing, evolution-dissing scamps over at The Politic are just peeing themselves over this exciting new development:
I would like to welcome long time blogger Mark Peters to the fold here at ThePolitic.com. Mark has been a staple in the Canadian political blogosphere for the past half decade; writing on markpeters.com and then mark-peters.blogspot.com.
Peters ... Peters ... oh, yeah, that Mark Peters.
This is going to be all kinds of awesome. Maybe the next time co-Politic blogger Matthew gets his nads handed to him in front of a worldwide audience, Mark will be there, hollering, "No problem, Matt, I got yer back! Darned scientists with their science and evidence and science and everything and stuff."
The potential entertainment value over there just went up immensely. All they need now is fellow Blogging Tory Richard Ball to totally corner the market on deranged, religious wingnuttery. One-stop shopping, as it were.
AFTERSNARK: If the excitable youngsters over at Spanky's He-Man Woman Hater's Club and Treehouse want to throw a welcome party for Mark, I think they should reprint one of Mark's more spectacular pieces of prose. Say, this one:
... I have personally witnessed supernatural healing, for example: a man in our church had one leg six inches shorter than the other from birth. He walked with a platform shoe. One night, after praying for him in a church service, a believer laid him on the floor and literally, in real time, pulled his leg out until it was the same length as the other. Six inches of flesh, bone, sinew, fiber, blood and vessel, etc. in less than a second. No pain, no surgical incision. Nothing. The man walked to his truck in his socks with both feet level on the ground and had to buy a whole new set of shoes.
Natural science cannot explain this. It defies natural laws. This is why they call it supernatural. But it did happen, it was tangible, observable and explainable, if you allow the supernatural. Certainly the person who was healed knows the new part of his leg is real; he walks on it every day. Same goes for the lady whose blindness in one eye instantaneously receded after prayer during the same service.
So we have very real things happening today that natural science cannot explain.
That would be a dynamite introduction for the readership, don't you think? It would certainly save people the time it would take them to eventually figure out that Peters was a raving dingbat who can be safely ignored.
BONUS SNARK AT NO EXTRA CHARGE: It's always amusing to watch gullible yobs like Peters yammer on about the efficacy of faith healers when it never occurs to them to ask a fairly fundamental question: If God truly wanted to "heal" someone, why does He need to "work" through an earthly vessel like a faith healer?
If God wanted that man's leg to be six inches longer, why didn't He just will it so? In private, perhaps? Without any assistance? Instead, such medical "miracles" always seem to need the intervention of a convenient "healer."
I've always found that ... odd.

How can someone "literally" and "in real time" that's "less than a second" produce 6" of flesh by pulling on a person's leg? It's beyond ridiculous. Especially so when the supposed explanation is simply: MAGIC!
Mark Peters is either the world's most gullible person or a heinous liar.
If you have time, read that last thread in its entirety. Really. The only thing that leaves it short of perfection is Patrick Ross showing up, pompously lecturing everyone on metaphysical epistemology.

Well luckily his intercessors never gain anything -- money, fame, TV shows, etc. -- from becoming faith healers. Because that would just be crass.
Take a look around at Lourdes where lots of magic sky faerie healing is claimed to take place, you will see lots of crutches and eyeglasses but no wooden legs and no glass eyes.
I wonder why.

Actually, the old 'six inches of space' inside the phony platform shoe realization occurs in really really REALLYreal time in less than a second(a real second - real time so to speak)tyo any six yr old with a real brian.
But really, lets be honest(has something to do with real reality), Mark may have an unreal assumption of what 6 inches really looks like.
Forgot to mention a quote from a comic(caint remember who right yet):
Ghosts are invisible. I can't see any ghosts. That's what I would expect if they are invisible. That means they are real!
