Red Deer (AB) -- Hundreds of Albertans currently struggling financially through the pandemic gathered today in front of UCP MLA offices to protest the availability of CERB payments designed to help them survive for the next several months.
"No one asked us about this," grumbled small business owner Cletus McFarland, "no one at all. We're hanging on by our fingertips, doing the best we can, and the government comes along with all this money and tells us to take it, and they tell us it's for our own good. Yeah, right."
Western Standard's Derek Fildebrandt went further, insisting that, "in the face of tyranny, freedom demands our defiance," and encouraging proud and independent Albertans to vocally reject any financial assistance being pushed on them without their consent.
Added "Pastor" Artur Pawloswki, "I grew up with communism, and I know communism when I see it."
Rebel News' Ezra Levant immediately established a five million dollar fundraiser for a Charter challenge.
