How indescribably fucking stupid is John Carpay?

By now, most people have already read of the sheer imbecility of JCCF's John Carpay who, while arguing a case about the constitutionality of pandemic lockdown regulations ... oh, just read it for yourself ...

...

Take a minute to let that soak in ... a sitting lawyer hired a private investigator to stalk a judge and his family while arguing a case in front of that same judge. But that's not why we're here, since there are two points about this I would like to drag front and centre so they're not lost in the outrage.

First, given that Carpay has already admitted to this mind-numbing sleaziness and lack of anything resembling principles or ethics (hello, disbarment proceedings!), the obvious question is -- what would he have done with any evidence of the judge's violating pandemic lockdown regulations if he had obtained it?

Private intimidation? Public humiliation? Blackmail? What in the absolute fuck did Carpay see as the endgame here? Did he imagine himself leaping to his feet in open court, bellowing, "Your Honour, I think it's only proper to now introduce this photographic evidence of you, yes, you, unmasked, sitting on the patio at Barn Hammer Brewing, sucking back an El Dorado IPA and conversing with others!!!" Is that how Carpay saw this playing out ... like some horrid episode of "Matlock?" But here's the real issue.

Given that it's excruciatingly obvious that Carpay is waaaaay too goddamned stupid to have come up with this scheme by himself, one has the right to ask ... who put him up to this? Who encouraged Carpay to do something this grotesquely idiotic? Who, I ask, would have benefited from the inevitable outrage of something like this?

Please don't make me have to explain this.

When it comes to who else is currently in bed with Carpay and yammering on about the unconstitutionality of pandemic lockdowns, one does not have to look far:

And while this is the sheerest of speculation, would anyone find it difficult to imagine the glee with which Rebel News would publish the blaring headline, "HYPOCRISY EXPOSED! Manitoba judge hearing pandemic lockdown case caught violating lockdown regulations!!!" Followed, of course, by a petition and fundraiser.

Again, the above is pure speculation, but if Carpay is indeed dragged before one or more bar associations to explain himself, that explanation should absolutely require him to identify everyone else colluding in this sleaziness. Because there's no way he did this all by himself.

He is simply too fucking stupid for that.

MORE WILD SPECULATION: It occurs to ask ... who was paying for these private investigators? Since Carpay admits that JCCF "has hired private investigators to follow a number of public officials in order to catch them breaking public health regulations," where is this payment coming from?

Might it be coming from Rebel News' "Fight the Fines" campaign? That is, are donations ostensibly advertised as going to help people with their legal fees being quietly redirected to hiring PIs to stalk public officials? Or is the JCCF paying for this out of their own pocket?

Most importantly, since both Rebel News and JCCF advertise that you can get a charitable tax receipt for your donations related to this nonsense, does hiring private investigators fall within the bounds of what the CRA would consider acceptable use of donors' money?

In the end, someone better explain where that money came from, and whether it was used to generate (clearly inappropriate) charitable tax receipts.

TIME TO TAKE ACTION: I just submitted the following to CRA's complaint line regarding registered charities:

Yesterday, the head of JCCF, John Carpay, admitted that he had hired private investigators to stalk the judge hearing a case in front of him:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/manitoba-chief-justice-followed-private-investigator-1.6099124

As JCCF is a registered charity and is entitled to issue charitable tax receipts to donors, it seems that the CRA has an obligation to investigate whether donors' funds were used to pay these private investigators, which would clearly not be compatible with JCCF's stated mandate of "purposes beneficial to the community."

I submit that CRA has an absolute obligation to demand that Carpay and JCCF turn over all information related to who hired these private investigators, how they were paid, and whether charitable tax receipts were issued related to these payments.

If you are so inclined, I suggest you do the same. You can find the JCCF's CRA charity page here.

BONUS TRACK: Apparently, I am not the only one somewhat miffed about CRA-registered charities pulling this kind of shit:

CURIOUS ... In the article linked to just above, Carpay insists this was all his own idea:

but note the care of the wording -- Carpay simply suggests he did not discuss the idea with anyone affiliated with the JCCF (clients, lawyers or board members); he does not deny any interaction with anyone outside of JCCF, which is what he should be asked about.

Jesus, Ezra and Carpay really deserve each other, don't they? Ezra had to resign from being a lawyer to avoid being sanctioned for misconduct, and now his good buddy Carpay is an even bigger sleaze. They really belong together.

When is are media going to break this ridiculous and transparent scam? I am completely baffled why Frank and/or Canadaland haven't jumped on this.

If JCCF is a registered charity under CRA guidelines, don't they have to file an annual financial statement with details of all of their financial transactions? Would that not have to include whether or not they used JCCF funds to pay private investigators to stalk a judge? Seems to me they have a legal obligation to do that.
