Say what, Stephen?

I was going to slowly and lovingly eviscerate this rubbish, but as I was subjecting myself to the unspeakable horror that was the comments section, I ran across this gem from Taylor himself:

"Canada's New Government" was an official wordmark of the Government of Canada, not of the Conservative Party of Canada.

Excuse me? "Canada's New Government" was an official wordmark? When did that happen? And why would that be true since it doesn't make any sense whatsoever?

Would anyone care to enlighten the rest of us?

Ooohhhh ... even better.

And if one were to take the time to wander through the official Federal Identity Program Manual -- which I just did, took all of 5 minutes -- there's absolutely no mention of "Canada's New Government" being an official wordmark.

I'm sure Stephen Taylor will ensure that gets fixed tout suite.

Non?

Notice, LuLu, Taylor's claim that it "was" an official wordmark, not that it necessarily is one now. Is there a way to verify the history of recent wordmarks? Cuz you just know that if anyone calls him on that claim, there's going to be some serious parsing going on.

The manual is very specific -- for example, this section defines advertising usage and particulars in rather minute detail.

Changes to the FIP, when they took effect and whether or not they have since been superseded are noted throughout the manual. You know, the one that doesn't mention "Canada's New Government" as an official wordmark?

Unfortunately (not), it looks ike our boy Stephen has some work to do trying to prove his point. I won't hold my breath waiting.

They violated the Federal Identity policy by not having the cheque clearly identified as coming from the Government of Canada.

"Canada's New Government" has no respect for the actual Government of Canada. That's the real problem here.
