Patrick really needs to think these things through.

If he ever thought anything through, he wouldn't be in the situation(s) he's in currently. I mean, if he hadn't started doing it before, why start now?
Changing who he is and his throught process regarding things like this requires effort. Less effort than literally and figuratively running away from his problems, but...well...go back to the first sentence I typed out. The circle of life can be a vicious one for those who don't learn from their mistakes.
