Yes, David Menzies should be arrested for assault.

It's hard to believe but Rebel News' own released video of clownish buffoon David Menzies shows him clearly trespassing and assaulting others at a CPC rally. Follow along with the video here, where one can see at various times:

  • 0:19: Menzies shoves the man in the red shirt (assault)
  • 0:27: Menzies ducks under the yellow police tape to continue following the candidate (trespassing)
  • 0:33: Menzies is shoving the woman in the blue shirt (assault)
  • 0:38: Menzies shoves the man in the red shirt (assault)
  • 0:43: Menzies pushes the man in the dark blue shirt from behind with his recorder (assault)

And, remember, this is the video Ezra thinks exonerates David.

Jesus.

AFTERSNARK: I've been moderately reliably informed that what you see of David Menzies in that video snippet is exactly his standard behaviour -- abusive and confrontational, and assaulting people for the sole purpose of being ejected or arrested as the pretext of running a fundraiser.

I do not find that difficult to believe.

OH, THIS COMMENT, which I will elevate:

David's original shtick, going back a decade or so, was hanging out in shopping malls "testing his new camera" by prowling around getting shots of Muslim women. When they'd get fed up and accost him, sometimes blocking his shot, he'd insist that the mall cops charge them with assault, and when the cops laughed him off, he'd write a furious article about the "Islamification of Canada", etc, etc, etc.

For a few years he seemed to limit his cheap provocation to people he could easily bully - hotel clerks, admin. staff, security guards, cashiers. Same technique. He would barge into a place he wasn't authorized to be, bully his target until they responded with exasperation, then revert to wide eyed "I'm just doing my job" sweet innocence. The video segments always had three things in common:
  • they edited out all or most of his provocation
  • they NEVER addressed the substance of the "story" he claimed to be covering, but simply focused on his "mistreatment";
  • the intro was usually shot AFTER the story, carefully prepping the viewer with Dave's interpretation of events and providing pre-emptive explanations for elements of the "story" that didn't seem to fit Dave's narrative.
Hate, like any other addiction, requires stronger doses as the shock value wears off, and in the last two years of the Rebel's decline, Dave has been forced to up the ante, taking on cops, military personnel and more senior political figures, and making his physical aggression more and more blatant with every "story".

It's noteworthy that the Rebel clips of this incident, to an even greater extent than usual, chops out the "questions" that Dave alleges were too "tough" for Melissa Lantsman. In his begging bowl video and his twitter feed, Ezra says furiously there was "nothing" homophobic in any of Dave's questions.
No, not if you limit your screening to the tips provided by the Rebel. But Peter Kent posted the question Ezra is pretending doesn't exist. https://twitter.com/KentThornhillMP/status/1419614912129667073
