It's a day ending in 'y' so Rebel News needs many tens of thousands of dollars from you RIGHT FUCKING NOW, yes, you!!!
Without all that high-end techie wizardry, how else would we be able to watch, in real time, a Rebel News journo howling, "Hey, why are you throwing me out? Don't touch me! You're touching me, stop touching me!!"
And ... scene.
BONUS TRACK: First commenter is wickedly on-point with some business advice:
I've done business plans and recovery plans for clients, and the bottom line in both cases is really simple; do everything you have to do to protect the asset that is ESSENTIAL to sustain whatever service drives your revenue generation. If you have to go begging for spare change because a key interface has ALREADY failed, well, golly, that tells us something about your fiscal acuity. But by all means, DO continue lecturing on the economy. We're all ears.)

You really do get the sense that Ezra's fragile little Empire is just about to implode, in part because he's been boasting so furiously about how well the Rebel is doing. (Ezra, in terms of message management, a brief tip...don't brag about your success on the same day as you go begging for spare change to replace your Radio Shack switcher.)

It was kind of cool to look behind the scenes at what an incredibly rinky-dink operation the Rebel runs. Seriously, I've seen high school AV departments that were better equipped.
Come to think of it, I've met high school media studies kids who were better equipped than those two.
Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not) but didn't Ezra not that long ago rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars for all new studio equipment? And now, suddenly, he desperately needs more? I am skeptical.
I call bullshit on this. First, even if their video box finally went tits up, that doesn't justify adding a half-dozen more really high-end boxes to their "emergency." And given that there's only two of them, why do they so badly need *three* new laptops and *three* new desktops?
Finally, the amount they're asking for seems to be based on regular (non-discounted) online prices for single units; if you went to any retailer and asked to purchase six new systems, you would definitely get a discount, so they're without question asking for more money than this is going to cost them.
This is a scam.
What happened to Ezra's YouTube platform he was raising money for?
As someone who does a moderate amount of computer-based video editing, I can say with some confidence that this is a total grift. Leaving aside the need for a new TriCaster, there is no imaginable reason for two people to suddenly need six super high-end computers.
There are two reasonable combinations for computers to do video editing. First, you can have a decent laptop for field work to collect raw data, then have a high-performance desktop back at the studio for editing. Or you can just blow the cash and buy a really, really good laptop that can do both, and the laptops they're showing can certainly handle that. So it's idiotic to claim that they need both really expensive laptops and really expensive desktops.
Anyone who has any computer video editing experience is certainly laughing their heads off over this obvious scam.
How is it that the people who are constantly bitching about how tough times are and how businesses are failing and how they can't pay their bills and it's all Trudeau's fault can still always find $100,000 to dump on Ezra Levant? I swear, these assholes would sell their grandmother's insulin to send money to Ezra.
What happened to those 6 prosumer cameras you bought in the beginning for $4500 each, Ezra? The only time I saw them used was Sheila
and every time I see Drea in Vancouver she's filming with a cellphone.
Her new cameraman has a mirrorless with a gimbal.
I love how these two kids are begging for top of the line 2021 gaming laptops to edit 1080p footage. Maybe learn what proxies are, Lincoln.
