Dear Junior:
The Republicans called — they want their fearmongering election platform back.
Yours in endlessly superior amusement and disdain,
LuLu
P.S. Here's a quarter ... perhaps you and the rest of Big Daddy's double-dealing, security-breaching, in-and-out fuckwits could buy an original thought.
UM ... NO. CC here, and I am going to exercise my Godly bloggy prerogative to suggest that LuLu has totally missed a critical point here.
Unlike the Republicans, MacKay is not suggesting that bad, terrorist-related things might happen if Canadians vote for the opposition. No, what MacKay is suggesting is something quite different (emphasis added):
MacKay hopes election won't fuel Taliban
Defence Minister Peter MacKay says he hopes the Taliban doesn't use a federal election campaign to step up attacks on Canadian Forces in southern Afghanistan...
“I sure hope not,” he said. “All I can tell you is the challenge is there, it's real. We've seen the tactics of the Taliban. ... Their tactics know no bounds, know no rules of engagement.”
As you can clearly read, MacKay is pondering whether or not the Taliban will step up their attacks on Canadian troops simply because of the upcoming election, to which he openly admits that he has no idea but, hey, it wouldn't surprise him.
In other words (and please try to follow this next step because it's kinda important), Canada's own Minister of National Defence has no idea if a federal election will result in more dead Canadian soldiers but that's a chance he's willing to take.
Did I get that about right?
CC here again, and commenter Ti-Guy makes an excellent point:
... if our own Minister of Defence believes this is a risk, the GG should have no other option than to deny the PM's illegal request for dissolution. She's the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces after all and if an election, particularly a useless, entirely political one such as this, has the potential of putting more of our brave soldiers at risk, it's simply not worth it.
Well put.

Could have been worse.
At least he didn't invoke 9/11. Although he might later on today.
"Taliban will step up their attacks on Canadian troops"
The lefts mastrubation fantasy.... no really.
Shut up, Wayne.
Anyway, if our own Minister of Defence believes this is a risk, the GG should have no other option than to deny the PM's illegal request for dissolution. She's the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces after all and if an election, particularly a useless, entirely political one such as this, has the potential of putting more of our brave soldiers at risk, it's simply not worth it. She should expect Parliament to resume and do its work.
God, that football-faced moron really needs to be hit in the mouth...hard.
Dear Wayne:
Fuck off twice, you false-equivalence-humping liar. I defy you to provide one, just one, example of a respected left-leaning blog masturbating to troop deaths.
I, on the other hand, would be happy to provide endless examples of so-called "respected" right-wing blogs wanking furiously to Moozzzliiiimmmmm deaths.
LuLu,
Wayne would masturbate over those if only he could figure out how to spell it correctly.
I'm also sure he actually does pronounce it mast-rub-a-shun.
Wayne's comments should be deleted.
Apparently, Wayne still hasn't figured out that it's generally conservatives who insist on seeing the bright side of the deaths of their fellow citizens.
And, no, I'm not going to delete Wayne's comment. I'm going to leave it as a testament to the sort of vile, loathsome, sack-of-shit subhuman he is. Which, when you think about it, shouldn't come as a surprise -- he's a Blogging Tory. It goes with the territory.
When he finally reaches the Pearly Gates, Stephen Taylor is going to have one fuck of a lot to answer for.
Sheesh! All youse guys got this wrong. Big Daddy says the deaths of Canadian soldiers are a boost for the Canadian Forces--cathartic after years of not being able to kill or die like real soldiers. "I can tell you it's certainly engaged our military. It's, I think, made them a better military, notwithstanding--and maybe in some way because of--the casualties." http://policyalternatives.ca/MonitorIssues/2006/11/MonitorIssue1513/index.cfm?pa=ddc3f905 The election will make them even better soldiers.
I had forgotten that bit of blithering nonsense Harper spewed. Thanks Seer.
Re deletions: I don't know, Cynic. I think these grotesque defamations from Conservatives such as Wayne have run their course. No one who comes here needs to be reminded of how depraved they are and besides, they have their own blogs where they do that...hourly. Meanwhile, they come here and do the equivalent of shitting in our faces...and no one else can return the favour, since they've got their comments sections locked down as securely as the chastity belt the SPCA had to put on Wayne's comeliest pig.
But, it's your blog...
