I feel the cold chill of rigint.blogspot.com in the air.

It's not a good thing.

Oh, crap, I was going to blog on this very topic. Quite simply, Barack Obama is now fucked.

If Obama agrees to this, then he gives up the opportunity of pasting McCain in a debate, at which point there will always be some sudden and urgent reason to postpone/cancel the next debate.

On the other hand, if Obama insists on continuing with the debate, he will be accused of putting naked, partisan politics ahead of the welfare of his own country.

Either way, he's screwed. Watch how this plays out and tell me I'm wrong.

You're wrong.

And the experts weigh in.

I say you're wrong too. The media has raised its collective eyebrow, every public voice is going on record saying "WTF yo?" I think the public is seeing through it. What happens if Obama goes to Washington and doesn't suspend his campaign??? McCain's out of the running for the next few days and doesn't get to claim that Obama was AWOL.

Then again, the stupidity of 1/2 of the American public never ceases to amaze me, I ain't making a bet on this one.

Yeah. It looks like the media is seeing through this. It doesn't help that McCain is also calling for the VP debate to be postponed as well.

Shit. And I was just about to predict that it was only a matter of time before McCain tried to put off the VP debate as well. Damn, damn, damn.

This is turning out to be so predictable.

So the question is will GWB get on TV and try to build support for the election to be postponed too?

We've already started a pool over at sooeys.com

My webmistresses & I (just call me 'Houseboy') have suspected all along there wouldn't be any 'election'.

Just didn't know which excuse or crisis they were going to use to pull it off.

I don't know; I don't think this will look good for McCain at all. But I could be wrong.

And the first poll is in.

I'm sure others have asked this, but what good does it do to have two senators stop campaigning and focus on the economic crisis? Functionally, neither has any real power as of yet, neither is noted for their expertise in this area (well, McCain does have some expertise from the 1980's about crooked financial schemes, but I don't see him bringing up his insider experience as a good thing).

What good does it possibly do the situation, which is basically hopelessly out of the gov't control, a few trillion dollars thrown in to the pit or not, to have the campaigns fight it out over this? Because if Obama and McCain suddenly had to take active roles in this, that's exactly what would happen. They should show up and vote if and when a deal is struck, and be forced to explain their positions to the public. Say, some sort of event, where the two of them could have a rational discussion and argument about it. But it seems McCain already thinks he's vitally important to the operation of the government. He's not, and no one should pretend he is. Bush may be a lame duck, but he's the president right now. Cheney is VP. I haven't seen calls for every candidate for congress (not the current elected reps, but the candidates) to go to washington and try and help, so why should just the presidential ccandidates do it. If it's really an emergency, then what they would do doesn't matter a tinker's damn - neither gets in for 4 months.

Well, somebody has to defend John McCain.

They need John McCain in Washington to pass this bill.

Senate Democrats have told Dear Leader ain't nobody voting for this bill if John McCain don't vote for this bill.

House Democrats have told Dear Leader they'll give him one Democrat for each Republican vote he produces. Dear Leader can't get no House Republicans to vote for no socialist bill. Gonna take the ex-POW to do that.

Dear Leader needs McSame to pass his bill.
