Lie down with dogs ...

It's not that Instadumbass Glenn Reynolds fell for the Michael Ware smear, it's this delightful nugget near the bottom of that piece of offal that's so mirthmaking:

MORE: Ware denies the heckling, and he's got video. Looks like Drudge got burned, as, to a lesser degree, did those of us who relied on him.

"Relied on him"? Jesus, Mary, Mother of God, just how pathetic a pundit do you have to be to admit that you "rely" on Matt Drudge?

No, no, don't answer that. I really don't want to know.

BY THE WAY, note well the total lack of accountability here, as Reynolds describes both Drudge and himself as having been "burned," as if they are somehow the victims of this disgusting, drive-by smear rather than the perpetrators.

It's someone else's fault. It always is, you know. I'm guessing the drive-by smear fairies have been busy or something.

Roy at Alicublog tears Glenn Reynold's a new one. Read the whole thing. Heh.

With people like Glenn Reynolds, my revulsion stems from knowing that these people are successful...credentialed, tenured, probably free from most financial concerns, etc. etc.

How the hell did that happen? How did Glenn Reynold's even manage to graduate high school?

I agree, with people such as Reynolds and Althouse I often wonder how they rose to such dizzying heights of academia as being tenured law professors, while with most of the Blogging Tories and commenters at at Free Republic and Little Green Footballs, I just wonder whether they have sense enough to come in out of the rain.
