Apparently, Wendy "Never Right Girl" Sullivan’s doppelganger works for Lawrence Cannon (emphasis gleefully added).
The office of a Conservative MP and cabinet minister has issued an apology to Algonquins in his western Quebec riding after his personal assistant allegedly made remarks that could be considered racist.
The comments allegedly made by Darlene Lannigan came at the launch of the re-election campaign of Lawrence Cannon, transport minister and Conservative Leader Stephen Harper's Quebec lieutenant.
"We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any offence given," said the statement issued by Cannon's office.
"We also understand these comments were made in a difficult context. That is regrettable."
The Algonquins of Barriere Lake allege Lannigan, Cannon's riding office manager, told a member of their community, Norman Matchewan, that Cannon would meet with them "if you behave and are sober," and went on to make remarks about incest on the reserve, which is about 300 kilometres northwest of Ottawa.
Who knew that two entirely different people could be such astonishingly similar racist mouthbreathers?

In fairness, as the Globe reports, one of the group had shown up drinking before that and the comment was specifically in reference to that. I don't know where the thing about incest came from...
Some of these folks' views on natives are pretty well documented, don't need to blow things like this out of proportion.
What the hell is a "difficult context?" And can I use that excuse, too?
By the way, I'm fascinated by the description of how Lannigan "allegedly" made the comments. Well ... did she or didn't she?
Part of any credible apology should be that you own up to exactly what you did wrong, but it seems a bit odd that Lannigan is apparently apologizing while not clearly admitting to what she said.
If that's what's happening here, then that apology don't mean shit.
In terms of meaning shit, it's not too dissimilar to that other native apology, now is it, CC?
In fairness to Lannigan, she was drunk when she said that.
I also just noticed that Lannigan herself didn't apologize, it was the office that apologized on her behalf.
So, if I read this correctly, Lannigan suggests aboriginals are drunks, yet she isn't fired, she doesn't have to resign and she doesn't even have to apologize.
Man, where can I get that kind of accountability and personal responsibility?
Man, where can I get that kind of accountability and personal responsibility?
From Big Daddy's government, of course ... silly CC.
Sad that these bigots don't really seem to care how stupid they are, as long as they can be bigots. Ironic that they give free pass to criminal behaviour within their own ranks.
"I don't know where the thing about incest came from"
think hard....
