The jaw-dropping line of the day.

With respect to the outsourcing of management of several American seaports to a company based in the United Arab Emirates, we have:

Bush was unaware of the deal until he heard reports of the congressional uproar, presidential adviser Dan Bartlett said.

Apparently, you just don't disturb the prez when he's clearing brush.

Close, but the real jaw-dropper in that CNN story is this:

[Presidential adviser] Bartlett said: "If you start deciding these issues in a guilt-by-association method, you will have a situation which has deep and harmful ramifications to the economic interests of this country."

"Guilt by association" is harmful???

Please insert this ear-trumpet, Mr President: "BUT THAT'S WHY YOU INVADED IRAQ!!!!"

Wait, wait ... I might be able to top that. Here's the Chimpster:

"I want those who are questioning it to step up and explain why all of a sudden a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard than a Great British company."

Cuz, ya see, why should there be a difference between a country that's one of their allies, and one that contributed two of the 9/11 hijackers?

Funny. There are people being arrested without charge, held without trial, and deported without recourse because of where they were born.

One might almost think that companies are held to a different standard from individuals. And no wonder, because the constitution was born to ensure that corporations are protected, wasn't it?
