As more info on these suspects emerged over last weekend, I got visions of a bunch of teenagers talking trash on a web forum somewhere.
I suspect a handful of these suspects are actually dangerous, but most of them look like standard-issue angsty teenagers. Rather than dressing black and writing suicide notes in bad poetry, they complain about western imperialism and stage mock jihadist exercises.
I've been away on vacation and only heard second hand stories about the nefarious "terrorist" ring broken up by our super elitez security services, but that Toronto Star article pretty much nailed my initial impressions.
I doubt any of these people will turn out to be really dangerous however, assuming the Star article is even close to the mark. Any even marginally capable operative wouldn't touch these idiots with the proverbial ten foot pole.
And as for the Star, thank God there is at least one major paper in the country that hasn't yet drunk the Kool Aid...
Hilarious. When the "zomg terrorists" story first broke, I figured it was all fearmongering. I don't know whether I'm happy I'm right, or sad to see we're just as easily brainwashed as Americans.
