Sleeping next to the elephant.

So the question of the day is -- when the economy down south really goes south, are we going with it?

To some degree, Canada can't help getting sucked down with a collapsing US economy.

The integration of economies will particularly hurt manufacturing sector activity. A lot of "resource economy" will continue to percolate along fairly well as people still have to heat their houses etc.

Hypothetically, suppose that the Repugnicans continue to control all branches of the U.S. government for the next X number of years, at which point the economy collapses, economic disaster strikes, the worst case scenario arrives, etc.

Will the chickenhawk keyboard brigade blame the Democrats, terrorists, or will they assign blame to the far more general "liberal" menace?

This is why Canada should work as swiftly as possible to gain economic independence from the US.
Work with Japan, China, the EU, Russia, Africa, WHATEVER!
Just keep up away from the engulfing black hole that is Republican America!!

That is, unless our master plan to annex the blue states works and then I've said too much.
