What's up with IE?

Recently, I got a chance to see what this site looks like when viewed by that despicable, bug-ridden piece of alleged software Internet Explorer, and it did not look good. Admittedly, it was an older version, but are readers having a less than ideal viewing experience with any browsers in particular?

P.S. By "less than ideal," I mean other than being a Blogging Tory and perusing here and learning that most of your BT co-bloggers are brain-dead. I'm afraid switching or upgrading browsers isn't going to help you there. For that, I recommend switching or upgrading aggregator colleagues.

I'm using Safari and your site looks like shit - the about - contributer - sydicate etc... does not appear on the right.

It's poor HTML that is the problem...

It does look like shit in Safari. However, I use Camino and it looks fine.

Can you be more specific and give me an exmaple? I've never tried to be clever with any HTML here, it's pretty basic blogger stuff, so it's annoying that it looks like crap in some browsers.

I use Firefox exclusively and have never had a problem.

No, I don't think so ... drinking generally just improves my IE experience.

Being entirely unconscious, of course, is about as good as it gets.

In IE at work (not the newest version), I see something similar to what is briefly described above. the right-side "link-bar" gets put underneath all of the entries. IE is doing the same thing to much larger sites like Yahoo Sports, so it's a long way from a unique problem. Most likely an "update" from Microsoft to the old browser "accidentally" screwed it up, and the main way to fix it that wil be suggested will be to get the newer version.

CC - I've emailed to Yahoo what many of us are seeing on your blog.

I have IE6 on here, and I looked at the site with my Hubbies PC with IE7. Pretty much what Adam described. On my Firefox, it's ok.
Theres a lot of blogs in blogspot and blogger that don't display well with IE.

I have IE6 (it won’t let me update to the newer version — keeps aborting whenever I try) and yes, it looks out of skew much the way others have described it.

On the right hand sidebar, at the top just below today’s date the title of a previous post “The lesser of two wingnuts.” appears and then nothing. When you scroll down the list of posts and get to that one, the text breaks out of the normal boundary and runs the width of the visible page on screen.

It’s the same for all of the posts after that. Your sidebar appears at the very bottom at the end of the posts (instead of at the top where it should be). Aside from that, everything looks fine. ;)

p.s. I haven't checked in other browsers because I use this most of the time and take it as a "lowest common denominator" viewer.

Maybe try changing your Blogger template and see if that automatically fixes the problem.

It would appear there's some sort of HTML error someplace in the code for the master, possibly due to some tweaking on your part. Calgary Grit uses the same template and it displays just fine.

Just back-up first so you can restore later if your want. Sorry if that's blindingly obvious...

In IE7 on Vista ... like CRAP.
Just had a look.

The margins are way wide, there's no blogroll or any sidebar stuff of any kind.

The colours are still pretty.

Hey, CC:

I'm using Opera and I'm also getting that problem. The sidebars have moved to the bottom of the page, but are still parallel to the text . . . just below it.

When I was using Opera the sidebar was either halfway down the page or gone altogether, but I've been having issues with my iMac of late and most sites seem a tad askew. However, with the newest version of FF, it looks great!

Ha! An exclusive inner glimpse to the workings of a social democracy. Let's watch closely as the leader of the ant farm makes a decision that may not benefit all of his followers. Will they drink the kool-aid, will they revolt? Either way it's capitalism's fault!

No magnifying glasses please!

Coming in late to the party...I must be the only person on the planet who sees the blog just fine in IE, both at work (not sure which version) and at home (the latest version).

As an admittedly hacky and quick fix, I moved to draft mode the post that seemed to be causing the grief, and I'll go back later to try to figure out what the problem was.

So, as long as things seem to be working properly, I'll just leave everything as is and do the detective work later.

Please feel free to critique my blog in IE or whatever other non-Firefox browser you may use. I have a feeling something's broken, or slow, but just hope it isn't me.
