Scottie? Scottie? Over here ...

I realize this is kind of kicking a man when he's down but when that man is Tom DeLay, there's no such thing as a good time to stop. As many (including your humble author) have noted, Tom "The Chicken" DeLay suddenly bailed on a conference designed for right-wing lunatic wingnuts all about the judicial war on faith, claiming that he was (and I am quoting directly from the schedule here) suddenly called to more important matters:

Congressman Lamar Smith will speak in place of Tom DeLay, who was called to Rome as part of the US delegation attending the Pope's funeral.

Excuse me? One does not just get "called to Rome". And how exactly does DeLay think he's going to weasel his way into the U.S. delegation? According to this online Yahoo piece:

Former Presidents Bush and Clinton will accompany President Bush to the funeral of Pope John Paul II, the White House said Tuesday. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will also be part of the small official U.S. delegation, but former Presidents Carter and Ford will not.

The president and his wife, Laura, will lead the group representing the United States at the funeral on Friday, said White House press secretary Scott McClellan.

McClellan said the White House "reached out" to Carter, but he would not explain why Carter was not going along.

A spokesman at The Carter Center in Atlanta, Jon Moore, said Carter — relishing the memories of two visits as president with the pontiff — had told the White House he wanted to go to the funeral. Upon learning that the Vatican was limiting the U.S. delegation to five people and that "there were also others who were eager to attend," Carter was "quite willing" to withdraw his request, Moore said.

Now, if you count carefully (and, for you mathematically-challenged freepers, you should need only the fingers on one hand), you'll notice that the explicitly-identified members of the U.S. delegation do, indeed, total five exactly. Which makes one wonder -- how exactly are they going to squeeze DeLay in there?

To that end, if someone has time between now and Friday and White House Press Reptile Scott McClellan has another gaggle, I think it would be just delightful if someone were to ask, "Scott, how exactly did Tom DeLay come to join the U.S. delegation going to Rome?" And let's be clear -- the question should be asked just that way, and the asker should have a copy of the lunatic conference's schedule in which DeLay begs off because he's just too popular a guy to leave behind.

That would be just too much fun for words -- watching Scottie tap dance desperately to avoid calling DeLay a liar and yet still having to hang him out to dry because he'd have no choice. What a shame none of the press corps have those kind of balls. Paging Helen Thomas ... your country needs you.

Well, Tom thinks he's Jesus. So naturally he should go see the Pope, of course.

I can't say whether Tom thinks he's Jesus, but he does seem to think he's the federal government.

Consider yourself "pwn3d" (again).

Is that like Hillary declaring, "We are the President of the United States!"

Oh, look, kids, Jinx is back. And, apparently, I've been "pwn3d". I have no idea what that means but it's always so cute to see what the kids are saying as they hang out in the 7-11 parking lots at night. D00d!

And is that like Hillary declaring, "We are the President of the United States!"?? Yeah, I guess it would be, if she ever said such a thing. What a shame you didn't bother to provide a link for corroboration. I mean, you wouldn't just make shit up, would you, Jinx? Nah, that's just not like you.

Waiting for that link ... dum de dum ...

Take your pick from about 807 links, CC:

Google search for lazy people

Admittedly, I slightly misquoted by tagging on "of the United States," but that is hardly meaningful. (Though I'll not be surprised if you beat that dead horse anyway.) She said it. Time for you to eat crow (again).

And it's hilarious that you are [falsely] accusing me of making things up about Hillary Clinton when that's all you've done regarding Tom DeLay's attendance of Pope John Paul II's funeral.

Hypocrite.

Oh, and don't worry. No one's holding their breath for you to admit being wrong about DeLay.

You're right, Jinx -- it's hardly meaningful when, God knows, I should be used to you getting stuff wrong by now. I mean, why should I expect that you would originally supply an exact quote? Just because you put it in, you know, quotes? Silly me. I should know better by now.

Ah, so you're claiming that DeLay really is part of the U.S. delegation to the Vatican? Wow. I had no idea. I mean, all I'm going by is this piece at CBS News which, curiously, makes no mention of DeLay. Fancy that.

And, by the way, before you start to weasel like you always do, let's be clear about DeLay's claim -- that he was being "called to Rome as part of the U.S. delegation".

Note carefully that that's not just saying that he's going to be there. As the CBS News piece makes clear,

"Some of Congress' most well-known Catholics will attend the funeral Friday of Pope John Paul II, though not as part of the official U.S. delegation."

In other words, lots more people can show up, but that doesn't make them part of the official delegation. Did you catch that? And are you going to address this very specific issue? Or should we all get ready for more of the Jinx McHue shuck and jive?

Oh, and while I'm giving Jinx "Weasel Boy" McHue the slapping around he so richly deserves, I can't resist pointing out how we got here from one of Jinx's earlier comments:

CC: I can't say whether Tom thinks he's Jesus, but he does seem to think he's the federal government.

Weasel Boy: Is that like Hillary declaring, "We are the President of the United States!"

In short, Weasel Boy responds to a comment about Tom DeLay by trying to change the subject to Hillary Clinton.

Sound familiar? It should.

I don't think Weasel Boy could be more predictable if I programmed him myself.

Beat that dead horse, CC! Beat it good! lol! You're so predictable, CC. That's what I love about you. I also love that you are a world class hypocrite who doesn't even realize it. You complain about me not providing an exact quote when you spread lies about Tom DeLay. Try taking the giant sequoia out of your own eye before taking the speck of sawdust out of mine.

Ah, so you're claiming that DeLay really is part of the U.S. delegation to the Vatican?

I'm not claiming it. THE NEWS is.

Wow. I had no idea.

Obviously. You have little idea about anything. You can't even grasp the simple concept of "official" and "unofficial" delegations.

I mean, all I'm going by is this piece at CBS News which, curiously, makes no mention of DeLay. Fancy that.

I don't know why CBS News doesn't mention DeLay. Most likely it's just more of their half-assed reporting. Many other [more reliable] news sources are reporting that DeLay is a part of the unofficial congressional delegation.

And, by the way, before you start to weasel like you always do, let's be clear about DeLay's claim -- that he was being "called to Rome as part of the U.S. delegation".

Yes, and had you bothered to go to school to develop your reading comprehension, the U.S. delegation consists of a small official delegation and a larger unofficial delegation. It's all over the news wires, CC. You simply cannot deny it.

In other words, lots more people can show up, but that doesn't make them part of the official delegation. Did you catch that? And are you going to address this very specific issue? Or should we all get ready for more of the Jinx McHue shuck and jive?

CC, I have never claimed that DeLay was a part of the official delegation. YOU were the one trying to make that false connection in order to have something to complain about.

It's so hilarious that everything you try to nail me with (weaseling, "shuck and jive") actually is what you are guilty of.

In short, Weasel Boy responds to a comment about Tom DeLay by trying to change the subject to Hillary Clinton.

And you responded to a comment about DeLay and the Pope by changing the subject to some other comment DeLay allegedly made several months ago.

Tell me, CC, is it difficult to go about your daily affairs with General Sherman protruding from your face?
