Now, even if you don't understand French, it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to realize that "écrit le successeur de George W. Bush au prédécesseur de Nicolas Sarkozy" translates as "wrote the successor of George W. Bush to the predecessor of Nicolas Sarkozy." I mean, how howlingly stupid would you have to be to think that Obama actually thought Jacques Chirac was still the president of France? Oh ... this howlingly stupid.
And how doubly howlingly stupid would you have to be to read Free Republic and simply and unthinkingly reprint the idiocy they write? I recommend a trip to the Blogging Tories to answer that one.

There was another story like this I heard today about when the Irish PM visited a little while back. I guess staffers mixed up the speeches in the teleprompter and the Irish PM started reading Obama's speech... He quickly realized his mistake and the problem was fixed. When Obama then stepped up to the mic, he made a joke of it by pretending he was also reading the wrong speech and thanked himself.
The wingnuts reported the story as if it wasn't a joke and Obama was so attached to his teleprompter that he'd say anything that appeared on it. This, even though it was quite clear to all of the press in attendance that it was a gracious joke (made at his own expense no less).
