And that's how science is done.
One T. Ryan Gregory has a piece in the Grope and Flail explaining that whole "fact vs theory" thing with respect to evolution. Educated people will understand of what he writes. Deeply stupid people will not have a clue.

I'm book marking that one...that was exceptional.
Excellent article, thanks for posting about it.
But oh, some of the comments, some of the comments. Agh.
Given that many of the 'usual suspects' are found to be degree holders of one sort or another (including lawyers and actual educators, gah), I'd like to put in a vote for not equating education to Not Deeply Stupid.
I admit to bias. As someone unable to afford formal secondary education, I've encountered an indecent number of sheepskin holders who...well...fulfilled the Homer Simpson gloat of "I am so smart, S-M-R-T."
but if you humans evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?
The comments start off well, then "Mike Sharp" and a couple of other insane people show up and it devolves into every ridiculous creationist argument ever presented...
Wow...
And...just to highlight my concern about education equalling SMRT, I need a drink after reading of this august panel of personages (as seen linked by Impolitical)

Bruinooge...Bruinooge...oh yes, JJ's fave CPOC MP, chalk full of 'facts'. Just the fellow I trust with Awthoritay over secondary education lobbying. Perhaps he won't yell and accuse as much as Goodyear.
As I have has to point out several times to people, a scientific theory (like evolution, climate change, or gravity for that matter) is far more than just a theory.
This article is very well written and explains that very well. Good find.
