When the mainstream media does its job.

Good boy, Bruce:

The Conservative's claim that a coalition government would have no legitimacy does not accord with Harper's own position on the matter just four years ago.

In September 2004, Harper wrote to then-governor general Adrienne Clarkson to argue that she should "consider all your options" if the Liberal minority of Paul Martin was to fall on a confidence vote.

"We respectfully point out that the opposition parties, who together constitute a majority in the House, have been in close consultation," Harper wrote.

Harper co-signed the letter with NDP Leader Jack Layton and Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe.

When asked to explain this apparent complete reversal of principle, Blogging Tory co-founder Stephen Taylor replied, "Shut up, OK? Just shut up!"

Taber sure didn't want Scott Brison to read that on QP today. He just plowed ahead regardless. Quite deflated poor old Ted Menzies' lame argument about the "power grab" by the oppos.

What the fuck is wrong with Taber?

"NDP Leader Jack Layton was in talks with Bloc Leader Gilles Duceppe for a "considerable period of time," reported CTV's Ottawa Bureau Chief Robert Fife on Sunday."

Is Peter MacKay still humping their news director?

Well duh Wayne. Clearly he was back in September 2004 when Harper was also in on the talks.

So? What's the big deal?

PS. Poilievre is my MP and snivelling punk. He fabricates scandals the way most people change their socks.

If they weren't talking to each other they should all be tossed out on their ass.

It's their fucking jobs to be talking to each other.

I don't see that quote in the link now, LuLu. Do you have a more permanent link for this?

I think if the Cons really want to yell about this illegal tape, the NDP and Bloc should simply release any documents they have of they deals the Cons made with them when the Libs had a minority. Shut 'em up real quick.

Meanwhile -- don't get distracted by this tape. Keep hammering on the a) lack of financial help for Canadians and b) assault on actual democracy that was contained in the "financial update."

That, to me -- the assault on democracy -- was what got me furious with that little "update" myself. I think that's on a par with the dire economic situation.
