Just because ...

... I’ve had a lousy day and her voice is absolutely breathtaking.

Quite the video for a cynic.. and you're right, the voice is magic and the pictures tragic.

Out of curiousity.. what's your take on the Carleton Undergraduate Student's association withdrawing support for Cystic Fibrosis fundraising because it primarily affects "white males"?

Just wondering.. because in North America, AIDS also predominantly affects white males.. seems to me maybe we should be helping PEOPLE, not races and genders by preference.. Anyway.. good post.

There really isn't anything better than Annie Lennox live and solo.

I think it's a shit decision -- Shinerama has always been about CF. And the supposed argument that it's not an "inclusive" disease because of its primarily white victims? Go fuck off twice. CF kills everyone who suffers from it so I think that makes it pretty damn inclusive.

I am all out of patience with this kind of heinous fuckery.

..seems to me sometimes that rather than the "left/right", it would be more useful to have the dumbfuck/not dumbfuck dichotomy..

Just a thought.

I doubt you'd find much argument with that around these parts, Rob.

There's plenty of dumbfuckery to go around. It's just that the right wingers have been the ones in the driver's seat recently. What dumbfuck issues have been associated with the leftosphere lately? Abortion? Constitutional/human rights? Climate change?

..my $.02.. most issues are a little more complex than we like to admit.. and the tendancy to simply say, "you don't agree with me, so you must be either stupid or evil" comes from both sides of the spectrum.. and if people stop pissing all over those who they don't agree with and ask more questions instead of talking more.. well, we'd all be better off.

Hence my list of blogs worth reading - which includes Canadian Cynic, Galloping Beaver.. together with Ezra Levant and Small Dead Animals.. if we just sit around and listen to people who agree with us.. how do we grow?

Yes, if only we could find some sort of broad, authoritative consensus on an issue like climate change.

But go ahead, check SDA for a fair and balanced photo of a temperature gauge somewhere. I'm sure we'll all be quite enlightened by your findings. And all the questions you're asking.

Congratulations on finding the true centre of the blogosphere.

Right on Lulu.

I was just at a speech this morning, given by Stephen Lewis.

He gave a very grave picture of what is going on in Africa and HIV/Aids. I hear you.

Absolutely love Annie Lennox.

Have a great evening, and an even better day tomorrow.

Global warming..? err, I mean, "Climate Change".. yes, if only there was some broad concensus on the issue..

But, you're right, there's not much neutral input from the right.. but then, not a lot of neutral info on left either.. I mean, it's a huge freaking issue. Dion staked his life on it.. but does anyone in the MSM actually explain the theory? Do they explain, without reference to bullshit pictures of "drowning polar bears" what the good and bad are regarding increased global temperatures?

Really, it's potentially so much more important than whether or not Barack Obama got elected.. I mean, the welfare of humanity is at stake.. so, you think we would have serious disclosure by our MSM regarding just how the theory works, and clear published debate between the scientists who are proponents and critics of the theory.. sort of a face to face between, say, the IPCC and the 9,012 PhD scientists who have endorsed the Seitz Petition who believe global warming claims have been over-stated..

..I guess that job is left to us bloggers.. the great Hunter S. Thompson was too right when he said, "With the possible exception of things like box scores, race results, and stock market tabulations, there is no such thing as Objective Journalism. The phrase itself is a pompous contradiction in terms."

Indeed.

Rob, you're linking to this Global Warming Petition Project, right? This one? Seriously?

Here, let me google that for you.

Well, then, left or right, you're about as smart as Fox News is balanced. Sorry to have to be the one to tell you that.

hmm, let me simplify the confusing issue of global warming/climate change. unfettered and rampant pollution of the air, water and land will certainly have deleterious effects. pretending otherwise is foolish. living in denial and desperate obsfucation for the prolongation of the status quo and for the protection of pet industries is placing a gun to the heads of your grand children. so fucking well grow up and change your dirty ways.
