The Seer said...: Since we're on the subject of Republicans and race, let me clue you "North Star types" in on Rudy's success in the polls.

When Rudy was Commander in Chief of New York City, he brought crime under control.

One of the few things that Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives agree upon, though for different reasons, is that young black males are more likely to get arrested and do serious time than any other demographic in the US.

When Rudy says "I was tough on crime," what the rednecks hear is "I kept the kneegrows under control."

Your own daughter is not the ultimate "other" in American society. You can live with your daughter's abortion if you've got a president who keeps the kneegrows under control. After all, knowing your daughter, it's just as likely going to be a colored baby anyway.

(The second part of this theme is that conservatives, at least in the US, are the kind of people who spend their whole lives trying to keep their kids from making the mistakes they themselves made. While this is highly manipulative and sometimes histrionic behavior, you have to have some respect for people who genuinely desire to see their kids turn out better than they did.); 6:16 PM
