I try -- God knows I try -- to put "Special Ed" behind me and move on, but he really is the gift that keeps on giving. And giving. And giving.
Remember how, back here, Democratic Rep. John Murtha had "decided to skip the investigation and leapt directly to conclusions?" How Murtha had "jumped the gun," "made this leap despite the investigation continuing into the incident, and in advance of any determination by the military," "convicted the Marines without benefit of a complete investigation" and on and on and nauseatingly on? And how, even if Murtha turned out to be correct, his behaviour was still "shameful" and "egregious?" Remember all that? Of course you do. But what about John Kline?
"Who?", you ask. John Kline. Minnesota Republican John Kline. This John Kline:
“This was not an accident,” said Minnesota Republican John Kline, a former Marine colonel who was briefed about the killings along with other members of the House of Representatives armed-services committee. “This was not an immediate response to an attack. This would be an atrocity,” he told The New York Times.
Wow. You know, I'll bet that if I hadn't given it away, you would have sworn that was more John Murtha, wouldn't you? You damn betcha. And what choice invectives does Captain Ed have for that traitorous quisling John Kline?
Well, gosh, a site-wide search of Captain Ed's place shows this as the most recent piece about Kline, from way back in January:
I live in Minnesota's second Congressional district and have the honor of being represented by John Kline, a twenty-five year veteran of the Marine Corps and a man who has served honorably in the US Congress. On two occasions I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Mr. Kline and found him to be an affable, intelligent, and erudite representative. Of course, he and I see eye to eye on many issues, while principled people may disagree with both of us on how best to run the country and represent the Second.
Whew. So Democrat John Murtha who prejudges the Haditha investigation is "shameful" and "egregious," while Republican John Kline who does the same is ... well, he's just a prince of a guy.
Are we done here? Finally?
