The Democrats and political suicide.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I realize it's irresistible for the Democrats to finally take Commander Codpiece down a notch or two, and put him on a short leash regarding Iraq.
But they'd better realize that, when Iraq finally self-destructs (as it's guaranteed to do since it's beyond fixing at this point), there will arise from the wankersphere the shrieks and howls of, "We had it in the bag, we were almost there and those terrorist-loving Democrats stopped us!"
You absolutely know that this is what's going to happen. And remember -- you read it here first.

First: "when Iraq finally self-destructs"? How bad does it have to get before we can say it has already self-destructed? Does Iraq actually have to cease to exist?
Second: Of course the windbags will start crying that, they've been crying complaints like that for years already (along the lines of "if only everyone completely supported us, everyone else would tremble into fear and submission and we couldn't fail").
Most Democrats have the vast majority position in the US (GET us outta' there!). If they can't follow through on the voters own wishes without losing support, well, it's time to give it up.
"We had it in the bag, we were almost there and those terrorist-loving Democrats stopped us!"
Until the Democrats, as a whole, take control of this frame and simply call it for what it is...a fucking lie..., and repeat that over and over and over again like a broken record (instead of going into long-winded and careful dissections of why it is a lie, which the fathead Republicans are too stupid to understand anyway), it'll never go away.
This is the Dolchstoßlegende which, if is not countered forcefully, will never disappear.
