Need I even ask about the Blogging Tories?

I'm guessing the lede here speaks for itself:

Conservatives axe health network

This is how a nation's social infrastructure is dismantled.

First, the Conservatives cancelled the child-care agreements the Liberals had signed with the provinces. Next, they gutted the Kelowna Accord, the $5.1 billion federal-provincial agreement to tackle aboriginal poverty. Now they're scrapping another piece of Liberal handiwork.

Effective March 31, 2008, the Canadian Health Network will cease to exist.

For the past eight years, it has provided citizens and medical professionals with a reliable, non-commercial source of online information about how to stay healthy and prevent disease.

That's right -- the Harper government, which was crowing over being absolutely awash in surplus cash to the point where they were probably filling up hot tubs with it just to lounge around in, and announcing tax cuts to the tune of $60 billion (yes, that's "billion" with a "b"), has decided that information on, you know, health, isn't worth the pittance that it was costing.

But fear not -- that program will be replaced by a disgustingly uninformative, blatantly partisan Conservative propaganda vehicle -- www.healthycanadians.gc.ca. And Canadians will lose just a little more.

And the Blogging Tories will undoubtedly celebrate the abolition of one more bit of nasty socialism. 'Cuz if you haven't figured it out by now, that's just the way they operate.
